I had a different story from Wal Mart employees here in Long Beach.  They were very scared to lose their jobs.  Yes , there were threatened  that if they strike or talk to strikers they will be fired.  So here in Long Beach Walmart employees did not strike but Occupy Long Beach did.  It started as peaceful  protest and ended in two arrests.

Wal-Mart can afford to pay its workers livable wages. They are one of the richest corporations in the United States. Corporations like this have the power to make a positive change in our economy by doing so. If you're a person that thinks our economy is in a poor place, please don't villify the workers that get out into the streets and demand that their employers step up and do something about it.

"If I lose my job it doesn't really bother me that much".

Well, if it doesn't bother you that much, perhaps instead of picketing, you could have been out looking for a better paying job with better hours.  But of course you can't, because with your level of education and skills, you are only qualified to work at Wal Mart.  See, when you applied at Wal Mart, you knew damn very well what the wage was going to be as well as the working hours.

And spare me with the "corporate greed" bullshit.  All corporations are greedy.  Get over it. Welcome to the real world.  If are actually that stupid enough to believe that Wal Mart should pay you $20/hr with full family health coverage and retirement benefits for stocking fucking shelves and/or working as a cashier, then you must live in a different world than the rest of us do.

But then.

If you lose your job, it really won't bother you much.

Because in all likelihood, you probably have 3-5 kids that you can't afford to take care of and are already on the Government Welfare dole.

But the funny thing?  Your little strike didn't bother Wal Mart much.  They had record sales today.

The argument for health care is moot now that we have Obamacare.

I'm sure there's plenty of people that want those jobs. If you don't wanna work on Thanksgiving night don't apply at Walmart, Target, a gas station, a hospital or to be a police officer and if you do then don't whine that you have to work those days.

@lily.h Typical liberal agenda.  "We made bad choices in life and wound up working at Wal Mart.  But we think that we should earn $80/hr because we do very important things, like, you know, stocking shelves and stuff.  Why is Wal-Mart so greedy?  I mean, like,  I took econ 101 in high school,  so i know how business stuff works.  I think I am going to join an Occupy movement.  Because, you know, corporations are greedy and stuff.  Dude, where is my lighter?  I need a hit so bad so I can picket Papa Johns later on tonight.  Dude......................."

That's right Minnesota! Today and Today only you can get your hands on the never before seen "business as usual", "what world are you living in?", "blind ignorance always wins!" lamenated refriderator magnets! These magnets are hand made in China! From what our customers are saying - "these magnets provide a free from critical thinking environment for generations to model themselves after".  Never again will you have to talk with your daughter about "tax policy" or "corporate profits", any meaningful conversation can be avoided by simply pointing at the fridge to one of our unique magnets.....and presto....problem solved!!!

@keny1  You dumb bootlicking coward.   "Walmart’s intentionally low wages force employees to need approximately $420,000 per year, per store, totaling $2.66 BILLION annually in food stamps and other taxpayer assistance."   This isn't a left or right issue.  By paying their workers so little they are getting massive corporate welfare.  Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for Walmart's profits idiot.   If you gave one shit about the debt or any of the other crap you pretend to care about you'd be anti-Walmart too.  You are a dumb raicst bootlicker.  Stop being a pathetic worm to your corporate overloads.  How spineless are you as a person?  Walmart is a big fucking leech sucking on your tax dollars to make private profit.  They are evil and wrong.
