Zombie Pub Crawl breaks world record

A world record in the making.
The organizers of Zombie Pub Crawl have officially broken into the record books.

Earlier this week, one of the event's founders received an email from Guinness announcing they set the new world record for "Largest Gathering of Zombies," with 8,027 at Midway Stadium in St. Paul before the October 13 crawl.

"Guinness World Records congratulates you on your achievement," reads the email. "Your official certificate confirming your world record is being created and will be sent to you shortly."

In reality, the event probably broke this record years ago. Last year, more than 27,000 people showed up to the pub crawl. This year it was around 30,000. But because of Guinness' strict requirements, they didn't qualify until they horded everyone into Midway.

Here's the full email from Guinness (email addresses redacted):

Dear Mr Charles Terhark,

We are pleased to confirm that you have successfully set the new Guinness World Records title for 'Largest gathering of zombies'.

Guinness World Records congratulates you on your achievement. Your official certificate confirming your world record is being created and will be sent to you shortly.

Although your record-breaking achievement is not guaranteed an entry in our world-famous annual book, we do consider all new records for inclusion in future Guinness World Records publications and products.
