Named after the censored version of his Deadspin letter, the book will be in stores this summer.
Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe doesn't appear to be having any problems keeping himself occupied during the off season so far.

Kluwe is writing a book that will be on shelves this summer, titled Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies, a reference to the censored version of his originally quite vulgar pro-gay-rights letter to Deadspin (We think "Lustful Cockmonster" has a better ring to it, but nonetheless understand why a publisher would disagree).

Here's the book's description on Barnes and Noble's website:

From Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe comes this uproarious, uncensored take on empathy, personal responsibility, and what it means to be human.

Chris Kluwe came to prominence when his blistering and urgent letter defending free speech to a Maryland state politician went viral.

Now, the extraordinarily clever, punishingly funny, sharp-tongued blogosphere star, NFL player, husband and father, one-time violin prodigy, voracious lifetime reader, obsessive gamer, and fearless champion of personal freedom takes on everyone and everything else in BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE SPARKLEPONIES. In this collection of rousing, uncensored personal essays, Kluwe unleashes against intolerance, the misinterpretation of religion, guns, athletes' salaries, and the Pope while also considering time travel, kids growing up in the 20-teens, the pay-per-view future of in-helmet cameras, and the end of the world.

An enemy of bad behavior, Kluwe is a guy all of us would be lucky to have on our side in any war of words. Find out which ponies he's unleashing upon next in BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE SPARKLEPONIES.

Meanwhile, Kluwe will also appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this afternoon, which airs at 4:00 p.m. on WCCO.

I'm curious as to what NFL team holds the record for most books written. Regardless, between Robert Smith's "The Rest of the Iceberg" and this doozie on the way from Kluwe, we should get an honorable mention for best brains.
