It's good to have high expectations for your kids, but this is ridiculous.
Kirill Bartashevitch, 51, faces two felony counts of terroristic threats after pointing an AK-47 at his daughter. He was allegedly upset because she was getting two B's in school instead of straight A's.

And you thought you had it rough when your dad would break out the belt!

A WCCO report details the altercation, which happened on January 13 and was reported to authorities four days later:
According to the complaint, St. Paul Police responded to St. Paul Central High School on Jan. 17 after a report of an assault against a 15-year-old female student. A social worker at the school had received a report from a parent who had been monitoring her son's electronic communications. The communications showed that Bartashevitch had sent the son a message that he had pointed an AK-47 rifle at the girl.

The complaint states that the girl and Bartashevitch were arguing at their residence on Jan. 13 about her grades in school. She was getting two Bs in school instead of two As. He swore at the girl, who then told him she hated him, and he grabbed a recently purchased AK-47 and pointed it at her.

According to the complaint, he bought the rifle because he knew it would soon be banned. The girl's mother jumped between them when he pointed the gun, and the girl was eventually ordered to go to her room by Bartashevitch.

The girl's mother told police that when she intervened, Bartasevitch threw her to the floor and that he pointed the gun at both of them, the complaint states.
The Pioneer Press reports that Bartasevitch told police "the gun wasn't loaded and he'd checked the chamber before he pointed it at them."

Bartashevitch faces a maximum of five years in the slammer on each count. Meanwhile, we can't help but wonder what horrible things might've happened had his daughter actually, you know, received some bad grades.

Once again, lazy sloppy reporting. You cannot legally buy an AK-47 without a FFL dealers license. Sounds like 3rd degree assault at most.

The cops executed a search of the house and found 9mm ammunition, which as any half with will tell is the wrong size round for this weapon. A SKS or similar knock off takes 7.62 mm ammunitio.

In NRA defense: Father exercised his right to bare arm against bad grades and freedom of expression. As far as daughter goes she should have defend her self w/ a rocket launcher.

B is for Bad nowadays... lol. Give the daughter CCW permit so she can point the gun back to her dad...what a wicked world we live in....

@MicheleBachmann@CinBluelandSorry you and Aaron are wrong again.

There are two ways for you to legally buy a class 3 gun. The first is by transfer after approval by ATF of a registered weapon from its lawful owner residing in the same State as the transferee. The second is by obtaining prior approval from ATF to make NFA firearms

If it were as easy as you're trying to make out then there would be fully automatic weapons at every gun dealer in every state.

To make this painfully easy to you, go down to Bill's guns, ask how many fully automatic weapons they have and can you buy one today.

@atrupar @CinBlueland That is correct. You can legally purchase an AK-47 without an FFL very easily (and sometimes frighteningly cheap). FFL is only required for fully automatic weapons, not semi-automatic. AK-47s and AR15s and the like come in both. They also usually can be chambered in either 7.62 or 5.56.

It's hard to ignore people like CinBlueland but responding to them only seems to validate them.

@CinBlueland A car is used for transportation.  A gun is used for killing.  Only an idiot would compare them.  How many drunk drivers has killed 26 people in an elementary school you fucking idiot?  These guns only exist to kill large groups of people fast.  Only an idiot would argue the government shouldn't regulate them.  Also stupid, cars are more regulated than guns.  Can you drive a giant car down the road that takes up both lanes?  Can you have a rocket engine strapped to your car?   Give me one good reason we need AR 15s?  Do we get rocket launchers?  Nukes?  The government has a need to regulate firearms.  The current system doesn't work.  Obviously the average person isn't smart enough to have guns.  That's why this idiot used his gun to threaten a 15 year old girl.  How stupid are you to not see the problem.  How many more Sandy Hooks does there have to be stupid?

@MicheleBachmann @CinBlueland BTW Just to add, not endorsing what the guy did, but with all the anti-gun hysteria going on would like to make sure your facts are correct.

Getting tired of this, far more people are killed by drunk drivers every year. So to use your logic, no car should be able to go faster than 20 MPH and we should bring back prohibition.

Blame the person, not the tool.. Get it?
