Wild Forward Zenon Konopka wasted no time reminding us that the NHL is indeed a rough sport.

He tweeted this grisly photo after he took a stick to the face during the first game of the season against the Colorado Avalanche.

That's 30 stitches across the bridge of his nose, or what was once his nose before it got mangled by the blade of Jan Hejda's hockey stick.

Here's his fight from earlier in the same game:

Maybe, but Zenon has been in 93 fights, broken his nose 13 times, and has gotten over 550 stitches on his face. And he fought every brawl on skates. He might not be a real man for not rolling around with other dudes nearly naked, but it's nothing to sneeze at.

He got that from eating a stick toward the end of the 2nd period, and he continued to play for about 20 seconds with blood pouring out of his nose. His brawl with McLeod was nothing close to a weak fight. There's plenty of basketball for you to watch right now; clearly hockey isn't for you.
