Michele Bachmann again runs from CNN's Dana Bash when asked about misleading CPAC speech

Instead of taking a couple seconds to answer a simple question from CNN's Dana Bash, Bachmann again hit the bricks.
It's only Wednesday, and it's already been an especially bad week for Michele Bachmann.

On Monday, the Washington Post rated remarks Bachmann made criticizing President Obama during her CPAC speech as "Four Pinocchios," meaning it was about as big a lie as you'll ever hear. Then, last night, she got absolutely eviscerated on Anderson Cooper's CNN show.

The highlight of the Cooper segment came when CNN aired footage of reporter Dana Bash trying to interview Bachmann about her CPAC speech. Bachmann, you might remember, was caught on tape storming right past Bash while lying to her during an incident we blogged about last summer.

She wasn't any more eager to talk to Bash this time around. Here's a transcript of their interaction (Unfortunately, the CNN video isn't embeddable, but to watch it, click here, and to skip right to the Bash-Bachmann exchange, fast-forward right to the 5:50 mark):
BASH: What I want to ask you about is the fact that you said [Obama] had -- you talked about the excesses that he's engaged in, the fact he has a dog walker, which is not true--

BACHMANN: The big point in my speech was about Benghazi. This was an absolute disaster--

BASH: But you also made specific accusations about the President spending money that other presidents also made [sic]--

BACHMANN: The real issue is that there are four Americans that are dead. The Secretary of State was not in conversation with the Secretary of Defense or with the Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

BASH: I think that's an important point, I think that's an important point. But this is another--

BACHMANN: The President of the United States didn't care about those four Americans and they were killed. That's the point -- and we've gotta focus on national security--

BASH: But if you want to focus on that, then why did you bring up the other things?

BACHMANN [walking away]: ...You want to talk about dog handlers and there's four Americans killed? That's an insult--

BASH: But Congresswoman, you're the one who brought it up!
In related developments, news broke yesterday that Bachmann could face a GOP primary challenge next year. Maybe Michele's statewide unpopularity is finally infiltrating her exurban Congressional district.

Minnesota should be ashamed. Not just the Sixth District. This cancer has been in Congress for too long already.

Liberals and Conservatives should all agree that she is not suitable to have a voice in any form of government. I see a crazy person every time I see her face. It is embarrassing that she holds office in my home state. I have no idea how anyone can defend her. She is just a silly person that assists in making big decisions that affect your life. #yourvotecounts

A primary challenge shouldn't be that unexpected. Bachmann is an extremely expensive candidate who has always underperformed in her strongly Republican District.

At the end of the day, a House seat is a House seat. A Republican like John Kreisel could hold that District easily until he died and spend relatively nothing to do so. Instead, Bachmann drains $11M+ out of the pockets of donors and barely wins. That's money that could go into winning legislative races or Constitutional offices in other States.

Considering that she has no chance at State-wide office, nor any chance in a Presidential primary contest, and that she is proving to be an embarrassment on almost every level to her own Party, it would be sensible to try someone else for the job.

Even the most deluded wingnuts can no longer claim with a straight face that "the libs are scared of Bachmann". She's a punchline, and the joke continues to be on the MNGOP.

@Matt That's true but it proves the old adage, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, then to speak and remove all doubt." :)

One thing you have to give Bachmann is that, right or wrong, she speaks her mind. There aren't a whole lot of other politicians who do that, or at least not to the extent that Bachmann does.

She ran because she knows she lied and she knows everyone in the universe knows she lied. She has to come up with another lie in the form of an "official statement" before she'll say anything, and it'll most likely be on Fox News when she finally does say something about it. In the meantime she's got more pressing business, like keeping her husband in the closet and falafel out of our schools.

If she's going to run every time she says something misleading (and I'm guessing, run even faster when it's an out and out lie) she'll be fit enough to enter a marathon.

Is this page another lefty, media rag? Disappointing. Hard to find actual decent sources of news anymore that can do what they should be doing, reporting the news.. not their opinions. See ya.

@green23   If you give Republican primary voters two people to choose from they will choose the mentally ill bigot freak every time.  Bachmann is beyond safe from the Republican base.

@Damian Amberg Once again: this is a *blog*.

The author's viewpoint is usually included in a blog. It's not a "hard news" site.

Are you "disappointed" when you go to a Chinese restaurant and don't see linguini on the menu? Why would you be disappointed when you go to a blog and find a blog post?
