Minnesota for Marriage again compares marriage equality advocates to Nazis

Minnesota for Marriage would have you believe one of these really is like the other.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. And so, just as they did before last November's marriage amendment vote, Minnesota for Marriage is again comparing marriage equality advocates to Nazis.

The anti-gay marriage group is distributing explosive "Sermon Starters" documents before their "Stand for Marriage Sunday" on April 7. It's a last ditch effort to persuade on-the-fence legislators they'll pay a political price if they vote for the Dibble-Clark marriage equality bill this session.

Here's what one section of the "Stand for Marriage" document Minnesota for Marriage is distributing says (emphasis mine):

Third, there is a definitive problem. Homosexuals claim: "We were born this way; it is in our genes; God made us gay." They cite old "gay gene" studies predominantly conducted by researchers who are homosexuals; studies that have been repudiated by credible research. Yet these same biased and discredited studies have been widely publicized by the liberal media as true and factual. They essentially practice Joseph Goebel's [sic] Nazi philosophy of propaganda, which is basically this: Tell a lie long enough and loud enough and eventually most mindless Americans will believe it.

Hear this: God did not make anyone homosexual. The Bible declares that the definitive problem is ours: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way..." (Isaiah 53:6). Every one of us has a sin nature that twists and perverts God-given desires not only toward homosexuality, but toward all sorts of sin, including sexual sins such as promiscuity, adultery, pedophilia, etc. Our sinful nature is the root of all manner of evil, but with God's help, we can choose not to give into those evil desires.

Dr. James Dobson says: "I am certain that homosexuality does not result from irresistible genetic influences, as some would have us believe." Scientifically speaking, there is no gay gene. Listen, I do not believe that God would not place in your genetic code something that would damn your immortal soul. Again, it is our sin nature and its perverted and twisted desires that people give into, just as the Bible says in Rom. 1:24-27. That's the definitive problem.
Last October, Rev. Brad Brandon, director of church outreach for Minnesota for Marriage, traveled the state giving a presentation where he said: "We're not saying that one side or the other is equal to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities that were committed in Nazi Germany... What we are simply saying is that when a totalitarian dictator takes place and wants to suppress the voice of a group.... they use certain tactics."

Once the Nazi comment Brandon routinely made during his presentations was widely reported, Minnesota for Marriage's Andy Parrish offered up a tepid apology, saying the comments are "not representative about how we feel about the other side."

Unsurprisingly, outrage over the Goebbels comment in the "Stand for Marriage" document produced a similar non-apology.

Here's a statement released by Minnesota for Marriage spokesperson Autumn Leva last night (via MPR):
"This is simply a desperate attempt to distract Minnesotans in order to convince them that children don't really need a mother and a father. This distraction just exposes the fact that they have been saying the people of Minnesota have given them a mandate to legalize gay 'marriage', when all the polls show that they didn't. This is a smokescreen to cover the fact that they said nothing would change if the amendment were defeated when in fact they are trying to force gay 'marriage' on all Minnesotans. And, it's a perfect example of the attacks on religious freedoms that people can expect if gay 'marriage' is legalized in Minnesota.

The reality is that there are many, many people of faith who believe based on teachings from the Bible, the Torah, the Koran, and other religious texts that marriage is between one man and one woman. They have every right to their beliefs, and to preach on their beliefs. This attempt to discredit MN for Marriage is really a looking glass that allows Minnesotans to see that those attempting to force gay 'marriage' on this state do not, in fact, care about people's deeply held beliefs. They are calling into question these pastors' beliefs as evidenced by their calling out specific Scriptures with which they disagree and the fact that the gay 'marriage' bill only protects the religious freedoms of people when they're in the 4 walls of a church building. That's not enough to protect the freedom of Minnesotans to practice their religion."
So... expressing outrage over a comparison of Nazi tactics and marriage equality advocates is a "desperate attempt"? Are we sure Minnesota for Marriage isn't just trolling us at this point?

So, the same barbaric tribesmen who, were you to meet them face to face, you'd go all NIMBY to the max to keep "those people" out of your neighborhood/gated development, but since they were literate you'll base your entire life on what they managed to scribble on a surface of some sort? Makes perfect sense...if you're a fucking dumb-ass.

"Are we sure Minnesota for Marriage isn't just trolling us at this point?"

Umm, no.  Actually we can be sure they are trolling us at this point.  They're just trying to wring the last few pennies out of this that they can, before they move on to the next fear-crisis they can stoke up.

I think they forget who the Nazis persecuted and who they had plans to kill.

laugh when u can laugh... when its about time to die, all u can do is pray to God for ourselves or.. for God to protect / take care of our love ones. For now u can mock God's word what's written in the Bible. Continue to play tough..justify sin to make ourself feel good doing / practicing it. Modern America is written in 1 Rome 20-32. U have freedom of speech, so do I. Thx!

If this infuriates you (as it should) take this opportunity to contact your senator and house member and express the importance of passing the Freedom to Marry legislation now. Information available at this link http://mnunited.org/get-involved/

Keep repeating "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction" long enough, and it must be true.

@Princess D Finkelson +I don't have to justify anything to anyone.  I am not Christian, Jewish, or Muslim and since the constitution guarantees me freedom of religion, (just like it guarantees your freedom of speech) I don't have to follow YOUR "God's word".  MY faith does not dictate that marriage is between one man and one woman, it dictates it's between consenting people who decide they want to live their lives together hence the reason you can't mix church and state.  Too many opposing view points.  I wonder when you self righteous, controlling, self centered, "God fearing", dictators are going to wrap your heads around that.
