"Gallon smashing" is the hottest thing since the Harlem Shake.
A viral YouTube video inspired a 16-year-old St. Paul girl to go "gallon smashing" Saturday night at the Midway Target.

She might've got a homemade video out of it, but it came at a price. The teen was cited for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property after a manger reported the incident to an off-duty police officer working at the store.

From the Pioneer Press:
An off-duty officer working at the University Avenue Target was called to the dairy aisle [around 11 p.m.], where a manager was standing with an empty gallon of milk, said St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Paul Paulos. The officer asked the manager what was going on and he said it was a "gallon smash incident," Paulos said.

The teen admitted to doing it, and the off-duty officer cited her for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property, and released her, Paulos said. The teen was at the store with two friends; a police report didn't say whether anyone had recorded it.

Paulos said the case was his first time hearing about it.

"In today's social media world, kids are picking things up faster and faster," Paulos said. "Stores should be on the lookout for this behavior. The kids should know it doesn't just cost property, but jeopardizes the safety of themselves and other customers."
Here's the video that inspired the St. Paul teen's antics. Warning -- it's frickin' funny:

I am under 30 and think that video is a disgusting example of the rampant stupidity of kids today.  i would say that if i had ever tried to pull something like that, my mom would've kicked my butt, except i never would have tried to pull something like that, because i had a parent who raised me to be conscientious and respectiful.  seriously, this kind of "viral" behavior disgusts me, and i think we can all thank MTV and VH1 for making kids think they can be the next star of jackass or teen mom and therefore they act like complete douchehoses.

Wow, looking at the comments I see they're written by these old people that don't remember what it was like to be this young and stupid.  It's still a really funny video, if you're not over 30.

Did she Intend to Pay for it? Because if you can open chips and eat them while shopping. I don't see whats wrong with a little gallon smashing if your willing to pay for the gallon.

"Funny?" - No.

"Stupid?" - Yep.

It's sad what passes for "funny."

If any kid of mine did that they at the very least could kiss their computer goodbye, have to pay for the damages as well as write a letter of apology for being so stupid.    Had I ever done something like that my dad would have probably beat me to a pulp.  Times have changed.

How the hell is the theft and destruction of other people's property funny City Pages? Plus someone could have slipped and hurt him or herself on the milk. Frickin' funny? No more like frickin' stupid between those who pull that crap and you guys at CP for endorsing that bad behaviour.

@AnnerChist Even if she did, someone else is going to have to clean it. Unless she pays and cleans after herself, i would say go for it. If not, then please go smash them at home.
