Tea Party leader: "I don't hate Obama because he's black. I hate him because he's red"

Whittle (pictured) thinks Obama's true color is Soviet red.
Bill Whittle, the self-proclaimed "virtual president" of the Tea Party movement, was invited up to Bemidji by the Northern Minnesota Tea Party Patriots to give a speech Saturday.

If the roughly 100 attendees at a convention of the MNGOP's 7th Congressional District expected Whittle to provide sober criticism of the Democratic Party's platform, they were at the wrong speech. Instead, they were treated to rhetorical flourishes of this sort: "Their entire philosophy is going to burn to ashes in front of our eyes," Whittle, speaking of Democrats, said.

But Whittle's most jaw-dropping remark came in response to an attendee's characterization of President Obama as a Marxist. From Justin Glawe's report for the Bemidji Pioneer (emphasis mine):
The Constitution, private enterprise and self-education are all incredibly important to Whittle, as made evident by his remarks Saturday. If shades of gray do exist in solving America's problems, they may not be easily found. Well before one member of the audience made known his belief that President Barack Obama is a Marxist, Whittle addressed the lack of those intermediary tones -- there is only black, white and red.

"I don't hate Obama because he's black," Whittle said, fighting back against charges of racism among members of the tea party levied by many on the left. "I hate him because he's red. He's a Communist."
Apparently Whittle wasn't paying attention to the news last week as the Dow Jones Industrial Average reached an all-time high. That certainly isn't something you'd expect to happen in a country allegedly making the transition under Obama's stewardship from socialism to Lenin-style Communism.

Translation: "I'm not a racist, I'm just your typical right wing delusional nut case."

For you imbeciles out there, the Dow Jones reached a 'high' under an inflated dollar and an extreme deprivation of free-market principals (bailing out banks and corporations, printing money, subsidizing various markets, etc). In no way can you actually look at the real everyday market, wages, and prices then concluded we reached some monumental success. The truth, is that the last time the DJIA was where it was, gold (something actually does store real value) was half the value it was now. So for the market today to be as strong as it was before the market crashed, the DJIA would have to be twice as high as it is now.

Irrelevant idiot Whittle makes an irrelevant rant. Yawn as necessary.

The 7th District has been held by Peterson (a conservative Democrat) for over a decade. Even during the strong Republican election in 2010, Peterson won by 17 points. Rallying 100 people out a district of 600k+ is politically insignificant.

This revisionist history that the Tea Party has presented is fact-free. The supposedly Marxist "Obamacare" programme is really just the Republican plan from the 1990's. Apparently, we are supposed to believe that the GOP of the 1990's was a hotbed of wild-eyed Marxists who were only thwarted in their plans for socialist domination by Bill Clinton.

The only mildly interesting thing about the event is that the Tea Party seems to be switching its obsession du jour from the debt back to socialism.

Only a simple-minded fool would believe that the Dow Jones record had anything to with Obama.

Obviously Republicans hate Obama because of the color of his skin.  Every Republican that posts on City Pages uses racist bigoted language in their posts.   Look at how their racism workshop went at CPAC.   The base of the Republican Party is exclusively racist trash and cowards who won't stand up to them.

@keny1  I can recall early 2008, when the Right pointed to the decline in the DJIA as 'proof' that Obama was destroying capitalism.

You idiots on the Right just alternate between two contradictory narratives:

#1  "OMG! Why doesn't Obama use his dictatorial powers to fix all of our nation's problems? He leads from behind!"

#2  "OMG! Obama's a dictator! He has too much power! Buy more ammo!"

Meanwhile, those Republicans that you elected haven't done a damn thing for you, have they?

The only thing holding the Republican Party together right now is a shared hatred of Obama, who is not up re-election. Why you (and the Tea Party) think that this a winning strategy just baffles me. He's more popular with voters than the Tea Party, Congressional Republicans, and Limbaugh.

And the Right isn't gaining any new voters; it's *losing* them. The percentage of MN voters who self-identify as Republican declined by four points since mid-September.

Yea, everyone knows he can only make it go down.  Only white republicans can positively affect the Dow.  You're dumb shit responses to everything are awesome keny.

@MicheleBachmann MB, was going to just ignore your latest rant but WTH? I see talks about economic policy, statements on record and you jump to racism? Is your white liberal guilt so deep that we can question nothing about Obama's policies without being labeled a racist? True he hasn't had much of any policy, he followed the Bush doctrine for exiting Iraq, seems to like doing low key things in other islamic countries. He's submitted a budget that was shot down by his own party, to date his only real accomplisment is ACA, which is already over budget and projections look worse by double.

So, what has the man done?

@green23 You just proved another point: Only a simple-minded fool would take my comment completely out of context and twist it into a R vs. D rant. *shakes head*

@Drewey I said that only white republicans can affect the Dow? Really? I don't see that stated in my comment. You must enjoy putting words into other people's mouths.

@CinBlueland I spare you another 1000-word essay from MB.

She'll tell you that Obama "saved" the auto industry (i.e. Corporate Welfare). The only people who benefited from that was the CEO and shareholders. Sure, it saved jobs, but mainly in GM's plants in Canada and Mexico.

Obama also "killed" Osama Bin Laden. And we all know that now Bin Laden is dead, the whole world is free from terrorism.

And if I can add my 2-cents, Obama will be the first President to go on a 1 million golf trip to play with Tiger Woods. I am so excited.

And finally, in true MB form, I will conclude by calling you a fucking racist and a homophobe.

--Your Truly.
