Harper was caught on film by Franklin Library security cameras (left); his mugshot (right).
Last June in a Franklin Library bathroom, Timothy Harper shot Macdad Abdullahi, a 42-year-old homeless man, while he was brushing his teeth because "[Harper] said something to the guy and the guy did not say anything back and he felt like the guy was going to attack him so he shot him." Abdullahi, shot in the back, was left paralyzed.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST: Michael Biskey, south Mpls resident, could get 10 years for having a bunch of pot in his garage

This week, Harper, 24, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault. According to a Hennepin County press release, Harper "is expected to receive 86 months [or just over seven years] in prison when he is sentenced April 15."

Seems like a remarkably light sentenced for a guy who shot someone in the back for no good reason, fled from the scene, and didn't turn himself in for more than two months afterward, doesn't it?
