Police gave pursuit, but instead of pulling over, Somaiah, 23, elected to speed up in an apparent effort to outrun them. Moments later, he was dead.

Police say Somaiah was traveling northbound on Brooklyn Boulevard at 130 miles per hour when he ran a red light at Welcome Avenue and T-boned a Toyota Rav4. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.

According to WCCO, Somaiah was one of at least eight people killed on Minnesota roads this weekend, making it the deadliest of the year thus far. Five of those fatalities occurred in three accidents in a 10 mile area that includes the part of Brooklyn Park where Somaiah died.

I wonder if they had to pick him up with a spatula or they just hosed him off the pavement. I can almost picture how freaked out and scared he must have been when he realized he was about to crash into another vehicle and he's going 130 miles per hour and there is no way that he was going to be able to stop and nothing between the pavement and him aside from a helmet and some fabric from his clothes.

Here is another person who should be locked up in a mental institute, like the guy who went on a stabbing spree yesterday. Everyone around them knows they are bat-crap crazy, but no one does anything until it's too late. They're too busy trying to pry guns from law abiding, sane citizens!

I think motor cycles are like semi-automatic weapons.  The gas tank is just like an ammo clip.

Therefore, we should restrict motor cycles to a 2 oz gas tank.  This way they don't have enough fuel to get up to speed.  Stopping every mile, is a little price to pay for safety!

Maybe he shouldn't drive 130+ trying to flee the police! It's his own damn fault!

@blacksheep What a moronic comment - how many sane, law-abiding citizens have had their guns taken away? ZERO - asshole. Save your Glenn Beck rants for the Faux News pages.

@East_Coast_Doug I think morons should have 9 of their digits removed so that they have time to think about whay they type, one key at a time.

It's a little price to pay for common sense.

@Mark Schanzenbach Good choice cause as we all know sarcasm comes across so well on the Internet.

@Joseph Drizzle Yeah, cause motorcycles can ride all by themselves right?  It had absolutely nothing to do with the bad behavior and decisions made by the rider right?  I'm assuming you are one of these who thinks guns should be banned as well?  Yeah, cause again the guns just shoot themselves right?  We need the government to intervene and protect us from ourselves.  God, you are an idiot.

@cjaramos Yeah, you aren't going to get a lot of sympathy with this type of awful behavior.  He put OTHER people at risk.  Do you understand that?  I could care less what you do in the privacy of your own home but if you endanger other people's lives then you need to go.  I have a sportbike as well and I love my bike but I'm respectful to other motorists on the road.  I would never ride like this unless I was absolutely certain I was the only person around for miles and miles.  A-holes like this guy give all of us bikers a bad name.

@cjaramos Oh yes we do - especially when he put innocent people at risk because of his "bad choices."  Lucky he didn't kill someone else out there.

@plont Admittedly, "Joseph Drizzle" didn't use the /sarc tag.  But was it really necessary?

@GoodbikerDeadbiker you are so disrespectful and rude. Yes it was his own fault however YOU fail to see that the people who cared for him are hurting and attempting to heal at this time. YOU are in now way shape or form aiding anyone in this process by being an imbecile and voicing your opinion that was not asked for. Grow up and let the dead rest peacefully.
