A group of at least five men face $303 fines from the Wisconsin DNR after they posted footage to YouTube of themselves laughing and having a grand ol' time while forcibly putting a T-shirt on an Oak Creek deer.
The video, entitled "how to put a T-shirt on a fiesty [sic] deer," has since been removed from YouTube, but a TMJ 4 news report contains some clips from it:
According to a 620 WTMJ report, the deer emerged unscathed and has been spotted around Oak Creek with a small piece of the T-shirt still around its neck.
It's unclear why exactly the men face fines, but DNR warden Kaitlin Kernosky told TMJ 4 that "It's always tough to see someone act like that toward a wild animal."
"They have an instinct to get away. They're not used to being handled," she added.
One of the as-of-yet-unidentified men in the video issued a statement to WTMJ.
"We meant nothing by it," he said. "We didn't harm the animal. We apologize for hurting anybody's feelings. We did it just for fun."
Oak Creek Patch published a submitted photo of the deer taken near Lake Michigan after the video was shot. In the photo, the collar of the shirt can still be seen around the deer's neck:
