Casey Hollis, 21, has been charged with two felonies after he allegedly threw two Molotov cocktails from the roof of Duluth's Shanty Bottle Shop around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Why'd he do it, you ask? For no good reason whatsoever, it sounds like.
The Duluth News Tribune, citing the criminal complaint, reports that Hollis told investigators, "I would harm myself before ever harming anyone else." He said he made sure nobody was around before tossing two homemade bombs he made from Crown Royal bottles, rags, and gasoline. One landed on the street, the other in the liquor store's parking lot.
But officers saw Hollis kick one of the building's light fixtures while he was on the roof, and he's been charged with first-degree criminal damage to property in addition to charges connected with throwing a bomb in the middle of a city.
A search of Hollis's residence revealed he had a five-gallon bucket of gasoline. With Molotov cocktails apparently becoming all the rage, maybe it's time the Legislature gets serious about cracking down on gas hoarders?
