Michele Bachmann announces she will not seek reelection next year [VIDEO]

We've laughed (mostly at her), cried, and repeatedly slammed our heads into our desks. We'll miss you, Michele Bachmann.

It's a bittersweet morning. Today, Michele Bachmann announced next year will be her last in Congress, and we're not sure whether we should laugh and pop some champagne, or cry, or both.

WE'LL MISS STORIES LIKE THIS: Bachmann: Miracle from God will force Obama to sign Obamacare repeal [AUDIO]

In a soft rock-accompanied video reminiscent of a public service announcement you might see at a movie theater before the feature film begins, Bachmann announced she won't seek a fifth term as the 6th District representative.

Regarding her decision, Bachmann said it has nothing to do with fears she might be defeated by Jim Graves next year, though she refused to mention him by name in her video.

"Be assured, my decision was not in any way influenced by any concerns about my being reelected to Congress," she said. "I've always in the past defeated candidates who are capable, qualified, and well-funded. And I have every confidence that if I ran, I would again defeat the individual who I defeated last year, who recently announced that he is once again running."

Bachmann also denied her decision has anything to do with federal investigations into her ill-fated presidential campaign, including an FBI probe.

"Rest assured, this decision was not impacted in any way by the recent inquiries into the activities of my former presidential campaign or my former presidential staff," she says in the video, which was bizarrely posted to YouTube around 2 a.m.

Regarding her future plans, Bachmann left all doors open.

"I want you to be assured, there is no future option or opportunity, be it directly in the political arena or otherwise, that I won't be giving serious consideration, if it can help save and protect our great nation for future generations."

She also took a shot at the "mainstream liberal media," saying she expects libs to "put a detrimental spin on my decision not to seek a fifth term."

"And since I was first elected to Congress many years ago they always seem to attempt to find a dishonest way to disparage me," she said. "But I take being the focus of their attention and disparagment as a true compliment of my public service effectiveness."

Without further ado, here's the video:

In an appearance on KARE 11 this morning, Graves said Bachmann's decision doesn't change anything for him or his congressional campaign.

"We were running for the people, not against Michele Bachmann anyway," he said, adding that he simply thinks Bachmann "read the tea leaves."

Bachmann is currently with a congressional delegation in Russia investigating the origins of the Boston bombings, so no further comment is expected from her today. But we'll have more coverage of her big announcement throughout the day.

People bashing the person are lost. The person doesn't make the representative. I'd vote for a baked potato if I liked how their voting record looked!

I agree that Obama was a terrible choice, but this idiot is as bad or worse. We can and have to find someone better.

I am mostly scared City Pages will have nothing to write about anymore.  Seeing how they devoted one to two articles daily on her behalf.

Finally she does something that makes sense. Let's not forget, she's going to continue working --- 100 hours a week. This brings her billing as an attorney into serious question.

Hmm.  Gotta wonder what drove this, with her ludicrously misleading TV commercials just now running.  Is she in worse trouble with the FBI than anyone had thought?  Is she actually deluded enough to try to challenge Franken?  Did the GOP scrape together enough Koch money funneled through Fox News to make her an offer she couldn't refuse, to take her gaffe-a-minute act from one end of the camera to the other, where it can be used to fleece the true believers without harming the overall GOP brand?

There is a closet-full of shoes yet to drop here, and I'm not making a snarky Marcus reference...

AND she leaves us with yet another self-serving pack of lies. Almost 9 minutes of UTTER Bullshit, artfully crafted and posted at 2AM...hoping the FBI will say "Oh, Nevermind."?

eeerrrrrr....so what's she up to? A person like Ms. Bachmann doesn't just walk away... I'm thinking this of course NOT having watched the announcement or read anything else. This is simply an ignorant comment...

This pretty much guarantees a republican in her seat.  Had she run against Graves and lost, we would have had a Reagan republican (Obama liberal) in that seat.  This is more than likely the less desirable outcome for democrats.
