Lunn let "fag" slip just moments before talking about the Pride parade.
While talking about the Pledge of Allegiance on the news last night, KSTP's Bill Lunn fell victim to an unfortunate slip of the tongue when he said, "I pledge allegiance to the fag."

Just seconds after the blooper occurred, Lunn reported on the upcoming Twin Cities Pride parade. So yeah, his slipup probably couldn't have occurred at a more unfortunate time.

Here's the video:

Afterward, Lunn poked some fun at himself on Twitter: His mishap comes just two months after KSTP fired reporter Mark Saxenmeyer for inserting an "inappropriate gay reference" into a story. As an inside joke with coworkers, Saxenmeyer, who is gay, characterized two gay Twin Cities fathers as "big HOMO dads," but a copy editor missed it and the offending passage was published unedited online.

Wait, I've seen this before. "Kill the witch".

Really people, I watched the video. It was a flub.  Please don't try and spin it into "Hang all queers from lampposts by their genetalia"

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard this last night.  I watch KSTP news because it's more "if it bleeds, it leads" than the other local newscasts, and sometimes I get sick of watching Frank and Amelia play kissy-face.  Having actually read script off a scrolling prompter, I know how easy it can be to get tongue-tied, or to even zone out and suddenly forget what you've just said, like you get hypnotized by the dotted line on a highway.

Even though KSTP is a right-wing organization, I think we ought to cut Lunn a little more slack here.  I'd be astonished if it were anything more than a slip, and he feels bad about it.  No way it was at all intentional.  And all of us, no matter how we feel, have that word lurking in our subconscious.

Give the guy a break - it was an innocent mistake. The timing stinks, but he obviously didn't mean any harm. Bill is a class act.

Yeah, saying this in between a story on allowing gays into Boy Scouts and the Gay Pride Parade left little to my imagination about how Bill really feels about gay people. I can only wonder if this word was floating around in his head as he started the intro into the next segment. Not cool.

You forgot to mention that this happened right after a story on a church who was ending their affiliate with the Boy Scouts for accepting gay kids into scouting.
