Vince Flynn dies at 47

Categories: Notable MN
Best-selling Minnesota author Vince Flynn died earlier this morning at United Hospital in St. Paul after a long battle with prostate cancer, WCCO reports. He was 47.

During his 16-year career, Flynn authored more than a dozen political thriller novels, including the Mitch Rapp series. He was an outspoken conservative and frequently appeared on Glenn Beck's Fox News show. He graduated from St. Thomas and worked as a bartender at Tiff's, Plums, and O'Gara's while working on his first book.

Flynn announced he had Stage III prostate cancer in a fan newsletter in early 2011, but said he was feeling better and on the road to recovery during an appearance on Dan Barreiro's KFAN radio show earlier this year.

He leaves behind a wife and three children.

I'm surprised the hateful "tolerant" Liberals on here are not celebrating his death.

What a great loss. He was a wonderful person, I think, and will be missed.

He was a very popular mystery author. His books always flew off the shelves at the bookstore I worked at.

Sad news indeed.. thoughts to his family and friends. I worked for the St Paul Police where his brother and father were police officers.

@kennyX Only evil bigot racists like you do that kind of stuff kenny.   You are so consumed with hate you can't even say anything nice about a guy you supposedly loved, all you can come up with is an insult against your imaginary enemies.   Almost as pathetic is Cin who can't say anything nice without whining and complaining.  You two are truly pathetic.

@Marie Ann Jirik No worries, not your average author for CP. He wrote conservative thriller novels. All in all a great guy, he will be missed.
