Abdirahman Abdi Ali was charged today with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the hit-and-run accident that killed 24-year-old bicyclist Jessica Hanson last week.

THE BACKSTORY: Abdirahman Abdi Ali, 24, arrested in connection with hit and run death of Jessica Hanson [MUGSHOT]

According to the charging document, a witness was able to observe Ali's license plate as he sped away from the scene of the nighttime accident with his lights off.

Here's the entire charging document, which outlines the evidence authorities have against Ali:

The driver involved in Minneapolis's other car-on-bicycle hit-and-run fatality this year wasn't charged with criminal vehicular homicide. In that case, investigators determined 28-year-old cyclist Elyse Stern tried to cross a street in front of 27-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernandez-Campoceco while he had a green light. Hernandez-Campoceco was allegedly "extremely intoxicated" at the time of the accident.

Send him back home. U.S. has given him TOO many breaks. (Look at his past history). He has done this before. No license. No insurance. Plus more. Does this guy not know what his birthday that was given to him from his country or what? This report 1.1.88 the link has 4.2.89.

I'm not sure turning yourself in when arrest is imminent is really turning yourself in, in earnest ..

Matthew Martin notice in the report it says too that he called and turned himself in. Whatever happened, this is the US and he does deserve a fair trial and the information reported could skew any jury.

Enjoy your time in prison never forgetting the pain you caused.

Looking at this more rationally (and less emotionally) than others on this topic... we know what happened. I want to know why it happened. Why was Ali doing what he was at that time of night? Also, MPR reported earlier today that he turned himself in.

@jsonwerner jesus christ, i hate how people express their condolences on a website.

on CP there is a story about a murder or suicide or just a death and an almost infinite supply of mindless web drones type things like " how terrible, thats awful, my prayers are with their family"

i find these comments trite, meaningless and flat out stupid.

people die, get over it
