Edina man yells the most Edina thing ever while being restrained outside bar

"I'm rich, you're poor."
On the night of June 28, an Edina man tried to buy an entire bottle of liquor at Wild Bill's Sports Saloon in Woodbury.

SEE ALSO: MN Monthly helps Edina name its neighborhoods, including "Botoxia" and "Spraytanistan" [GRAPHIC]

Staff informed him that they don't sell liquor by the bottle, so he opted for plan B and instead bought shots and individual drinks. But it turned out the man wasn't as rich as he initially seemed.

Police say the man left Wild Bill's without paying, but forgot to take his credit card with him. Staff attempted to charge him for the drinks, but his card was denied. A manager was able to track him down at Sunsets and asked him to return to Wild Bill's to pay up.

We'll let Edina Patch tell the story from there (emphasis ours):
The man went back to Wild Bill's and yelled and swore at staff. He then tried to leave when his card was declined again.

He jumped over a deck to run away, but staff tracked him down and held him to the ground. He was yelling: "I'm rich, you're poor. ... I can do what I want."

Management wanted him trespassed and did not pursue disorderly conduct or theft charges. Police took him to detox.
Unless he's lying about being rich, it looks like it's high time for the dude to transfer some of his trust fund into his bank account.

So wait, he was just driving drunk all over town?  How doesn't the story end with him being arrested and having his BMW lease impounded?

Not everybody in Edina is rich, and not everybody in Edina is rude. But the City Pages is always stupid.

Another typical Romney supporter.

Absolute Douche!  I think I could make a killing marketing a cologne of the same name..."You're filthy rich, or at least you act like it...now, smell like it...a new scent from Estee Lauder, Absolute Douche.  Unleash our inner douche."

You really shouldn't send Tom out to buy your liquor...

NOT TO DEFEND THIS CHUMP IN THE LEAST....but I've had issues of my cards being turned off due to - what the bank called - 'anomolies of purchases.' (large, unusual purchases or even out of state purchases) So we don't need to be too presumptuous.

Our entire society is based on acting rich when we're not.  This guy is just being a red-blooded patriot.

clearly he wasnt comitting crime on a grand enough scale to be getting away with it because he was rich, or he simply wasnt rich enough, or lastly, he was doing a blue collar type crime and there fore goes off to the slamma -im thinking its a little of option1, but mostly option three

How is that an edina thing to say? id find that a very lake minnetonka or wayzata thing to say but i have encountered few snotty edina folks and i worked in a prestigious salon there. As for lake minnetonka and wayzata i worked in a bank there and OMFG the entitlement there is ridiculous.

what was this cake eater doing up in woodbury - what a hell hole

also, they tracked him down to Sunsets, in Wayzata???  weird...

also, he should have asked how much to "buy the bar" and get unlimited of whatever he chooses. i bought the bar in Whistler on new years one time - i was so popular that night!

@Sheepy T. Sheep Especially when you consider the fact that most of Edina's real estate is post-WW2 saltboxes and ramblers, I would hardly call Edina a wealthy suburb (minus the nicer and more expensive homes towards West Bloomington). I think the only reason why people think Edina is "wealthy" is because of the high-end Galleria mall, and most of the people who shop there hail from more affluent suburbs such as Minnetonka and Wayzata. I mean if you really think about it......Edina is nothing more than an extension of Richfield.

@MNjoe Unlike if he were a typical Obama supporter, he would have said instead, "Why should I have to pay my bill? You are the wealthy business owner.....you owe me this liquor".

@Tony LaLonde Well, he was belligerent and claiming that because he is rich (if that's true we don't know) that he could do "what I want." I don't think it's presumptuous to think this guy is likely an asshole.

@kennyX If you're ever heading west on 50th toward Hwy. 100, take a right onto Sunnyslope - a quiet little side street that opens onto a neighborhood of huge mansions. There are a few of these hidden communities near the golf courses.

@kennyX expensive homes near W bloomington??? huh

you know little and live in especially poor suburb

i think people may think edina is wealthy due to the MASSIVE MANSIONS and BILLIONS of dollars bud

keep pursuing that grade 9

@kennyX  - Except that Edina leads the state as being the wealthiest suburb in Minnesota, even more so than Wayzata.

MNjoe
MNjoe topcommenter

@kennyX @MNjoe Nope, an Obama supporter would've paid his bill as I do everytime. The ones who think they're "entitled" are the Romney supporters. They steal more from the taxpayers by far than do all the poor combined - a bunch of Tom Petters wannabes.

@mingtran  - I'm still trying to figure out what sort of data you are using to refute the article from Forbes / MBJ that I posted. Is your data from "Out of my Ass" magazine?

@mingtran its always been hennepin county bud, how you could not know that  is beyond me...how you cant even do a google search correctly

you know little, that much is clear

your methods of perception and the way you process information is exceedingly poor, please stop sharing your ideas...they only confuse and beg for pity

mingtran
mingtran topcommenter

My bad. Washco was the richest, now its hennepin. Dellwood, North Oaks, and Orono are the richest communities in the state though.

mingtran
mingtran topcommenter

You don't even know where North Oaks or Woodbury are. A simple google search will show that Washington Co is the richest in the state. You used to have decent things to say, now you're a nobody. Keep bangin

digitalprotocol
digitalprotocol topcommenter

that's like saying that the wealthiest area in new york city is new jersey.  down with dakota county hicks

digitalprotocol
digitalprotocol topcommenter

@mingtran stick to your area of st paul and dakota county bud. North Oaks is a tiny gated community, and no billionares

simple deductions would tell you hennepin county is far wealthier...some common sense would tell you that too

edina, wayzata, eden prairie, kenwood...all much nicer, richer, smarter than dakota county

i hope you get that grade 9 bud

mingtran
mingtran topcommenter

Real dumb statement. North Oaks and others blow it away

Onan

@mingtran  - Uh, nope. Edina is the wealthiest suburb in Minnesota - by far.

Meh, Woodbury probably has more money than Edina. Much better people from my experience too.
