Half of basketball's first couple makes her living in Minneapolis.
Seven years after they met at an All-American showcase for high school players in California, Minnesota Lynx player Monica Wright and Kevin Durant are engaged, according to numerous reports.

Durant, a three-time NBA scoring champion for the Oklahoma City Thunder, was spotted in May sitting courtside at a Lynx game. That same day, he donated $1 million to the tornado-ravaged town of Moore, Oklahoma. Wright, who at the time was reportedly nothing more than "friends" with Durant, said she wasn't surprised by his generosity.

"He's got a heart of gold, and anytime [something like] this happens, he's the first one who wants to help," Wright told Fox Sports North. "He's a really compassionate guy."

Though Durant and Wright were both basketball standouts at D.C.-area high schools, they didn't meet until their respective high school careers were wrapping up. But they stayed in touch as Durant's career took him to Texas for one year of college, then Seattle and Oklahoma City in the NBA. Wright, meanwhile, set the all-time scoring record at the University of Virginia before being drafted second overall by the Lynx in 2010.

When he was in town in May, Durant said he was "looking forward to watching [Wright] play" and said he's a big WNBA fan.

"These women, they come out here and play hard every single night, and they deserve some credit. That's how I look at it, so as many games as I can get to, I do," Durant told FSN.

Wright, for her part, said she's "known [Kevin] for a long time." But of their relationship, she said, "A lot of it has to do with basketball."

Apparently there's a whole lot more to it than that. So if you see Kevin Durant chilling out in Minneapolis anytime soon, now you know why.
