Michele Bachmann has the distinction of being one of the top fundraisers in the U.S. House, and Tom Emmer, the first candidate to jump into the race for her Sixth District seat, is showing that he's no slouch in the money-grubbing department either.

The former gubernatorial candidate and radio talk show host announced his candidacy on June 5, and in three weeks, managed to raise more than $220,000, according to a statement from his campaign this morning, in advance of Monday's campaign finance filing deadline. The campaign reports that the support came from over 300 individual donors.

Emmer will need the dough for what's already shaping up to be a crowded race. Two other GOP candidates, Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah and Minnesota Sen. John Pederson, as well as DFL environmentalist Judy Adams, have also declared bids.

Prior to Bachmann's late-May announcement that she wouldn't seek a fifth term, her campaign continued to rake in funds. In the first three months of 2013, she raised $675,000, more than all but three of her fellow U.S. Representatives in the same period. During her 2012 re-election campaign, Bachmann raised a whopping $14.4 million to DFL challenger Jim Graves's $2.5 million.
