Allegedly, the crowd wasn't the only thing that was buzzed. The flight aroused suspicions (even though Calgaro reportedly didn't come close to hitting anyone), and after the aircraft landed in a campground, a deputy at the festival investigated. The pilot, 28-year-old Dustin Calgaro, was arrested for flying under the influence of booze, or "flying high."
Makes us wonder -- what would they call it if a pilot was flying under the influence of a substance that, you know, actually makes you high?
Turns out Calgaro knows a thing or two about those sorts of substances as well. In April, he was arrested in Oregon with 71 pounds of pot stashed in duffel bags in his trunk. That's almost enough ganja to make Gophers assistant basketball coach Kimani Young blush.
Calgaro has been charged with operating an aircraft under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, charges related to the huge marijuana bust are also still pending.
