When he saw that the Powerball jackpot was up to $448.4 million, Paul White bought ten tickets at the local Holiday.

His long-time girlfriend called him on Thursday morning and reminded him to check his tickets. When he did, White, who lives in Anoka County's Ham Lake, realized that one of them hit all six numbers.

White was at work and started screaming. "I think I had ten people verify the ticket before I left the office," he says.

White will split the jackpot with two New Jersey winners. On Thursday afternoon, after getting his ID checked, he got a display check for $149 million. He'll be taking the payout in cash, which amounts to $86 million before taxes and $58 million after.

At a press conference on Thursday, he was jubilant. White works for a Minneapolis electrical contractor, and brought his boss with him to meet the press. "My boss will now be my chauffeur," he joked.

A father of two, the 45-year-old winner plans to buy an Acura and a Chevy Impala, finish up his projects at work, and then start the rest of his life.

"I would guess there might be a party or some vacation in there," he said at the conference. "I've spent my whole life trying to figure out what it is I want to do when I grow up. Well now I get the opportunity to do whatever I want."

Now that he is part of the 1%, I am sure Mark Dayton will find a way to tax the hell out of him, so that once Federal and State taxes are accounted for, his grand prize will be the $10 that he spent for the lottery to begin with.

Love it! Its so nice to see a "normal" hard-working, Minnesotan young enough to enjoy it and old enough to "know better" win this great prize! Yay! Congratulations!

I was totally convinced it would be me. I'm beginning to think this stuff must be rigged or something!

@kennyX Here's an idea... How about just saying "congratulations" and moving on instead of making everything political? Or do you not have the capacity to be happy for someone?
