Regarding Harteau's wedding, Mayor Rybak tweeted: "My best to a Chief and Sgt. who met while protecting and serving Mpls, and still do every day."
On Friday, Minneapolis Police Chief Janeé Harteau became the highest profile gay Minnesotan to get married since same-sex marriage became legal on August 1.

Harteau tied the knot with fellow Minneapolis cop Sergeant Holly Keegel in a ceremony officiated by -- who else? -- Mayor R.T. Rybak.

On Saturday, Harteau tweeted out this picture from her wedding night: Over the weekend, Harteau told CJ that after a quarter-century of being with Keegel, tying the knot wasn't a big deal.

"I couldn't be any more married," Harteau said. "Now we'll just make it legal."

Pretty huge conflict of interest to be in bed with a superior isn't it?

Now maybe she can focus on the brutal murder of Justice for Terrance Franklin by MPD.

@yeah From reading your other posts on this site I was pretty sure you were an idiot.  Now, thanks to this post I'm positive.  Thanks for clearing that up.

@Edward Bertsch not huge conflict, necessarily, but it does pose perception issues. officers working in the Mpls. PD may look at them suspiciously, fair or unfair.

@Edward Bertsch

Not generally speaking, no.  There would have to be actual circumstances that cause a conflict, in which case officer Keegel could be re-assigned, etc.  There are any number of ways to deal with outside relationships in a professional and prudent manner.

Also, this happens frequently in almost all aspects of business/vocation.

Why don't you be honest with yourself and state the real reason you have a problem with this?

@Nita Vs Nene That guy who broke into someone's house, fought with cops, grabbed a gun, shot two of them, and was then killed? That guy?

@Drewey @yeah Well she might wear the gun at work, but her wife wears the gun in the bedroom!

@_Joe_ I was actually wondering the same thing. It's not like she's a division head, or immediate supervisor. She's the Chief, pretty much everyone falls under her purview.

Guess the only way we will know is if Sarge is suddenly fast tracked on promotions.

Oh well, best of luck to them.

@yeah You forgot to mention that he lead the police on a high speed chase in congested inner-city neighborhoods endangering the lives of many. Oh, and also he had a rap sheet as long as my arm (and I have long arms).

@_Joe_I should clarify, not conflict of interest, more a question of ethics. Keegel is going to be under a microscope until Harteau moves on and or retires.
