Over the weekend, Kluwe, 31, was cut by the Raiders, who became the second team this offseason (following the Vikings) to say thanks, but no thanks to his services.
Months after signing a contract for the league minimum salary, Kluwe lost a preseason competition for the Raiders punting job to an unheralded second-year player named Marquette King.
Will one of the key players in Minnesota's marriage equality struggle ever kick another ball in the pros? Kluwe, with his usual sense of humor, took to Twitter to let his fans know he's keeping his options open, and in the meantime he plans to play lots of Path of Exile and catch up on Breaking Bad:
Thanks to everyone at the Raiders for the opportunity this preseason. It was a blast. @MarquetteKing's got a bright future with you guys!-- Chris Kluwe (@ChrisWarcraft) September 1, 2013
Feel like we both had a pretty strong preseason. No regrets.-- Chris Kluwe (@ChrisWarcraft) September 1, 2013
Thank you to everyone for the well wishes. We'll see what the next couple of days bring. Other than more dead PoE characters. #reeeeeeeeeeep-- Chris Kluwe (@ChrisWarcraft) September 1, 2013
Silver lining: I get to see my wife and children for the first time in over a month. Also get to catch up on Breaking Bad!-- Chris Kluwe (@ChrisWarcraft) September 2, 2013
