Michele Bachmann is one of the most corrupt members of Congress, CREW says

One publication's "Woman of the Year" is another organization's "Most Corrupt."
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has named Michele Bachmann one of this year's 13 most corrupt members of Congress for 2013.

Joining Bachmann on that esteemed list are eight Republicans and four Democrats. Michele isn't just the only Minnesotan on the list -- she's also the only Congress member from the Midwest to receive the notorious distinction.

CREW's methodology for coming up with the list involves reviewing "media articles, OCE and House Ethics Committee reports, Federal Election Commission reports, court documents, and members' personal financial and travel disclosure forms. We then analyzed that information in light of federal laws and regulations, as well as congressional ethics rules," an explainer on the organization's website says.

In a press release about the rationale for including Bachmann on the list, CREW writes that "Federal and state authorities are investigating illegal activity connected to Rep. Bachmann's 2012 presidential campaign, including improper use of campaign resources to promote her memoir, illegal coordination with a super PAC, and improperly paying campaign staffers from her leadership PAC."

"Additionally, a former campaign staffer alleged the Bachmann campaign refused to pay staffers until they signed confidentiality agreements," the release continues.

But beyond that, Michele's doing a swell job!

Bachmann only has one more crack at making the list, as in May she announced she's retiring for Congress -- for now.

"Rep. Bachmann never had much power, but the little she had, she abused," CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan said in the release. "Rarely has one candidate's malfeasance attracted so much attention from so many different authorities in such a short period."

Karma is a b**** - I often wondered how many people's lives she completely ruined when she worked for the IRS as an accounting attorney - see people she isn't an idiot - she knows EXACTLY what she's been stealing from the taxpayer's in her farm subsides, her husband's turn gay people straight clinic with grants and taking public assistance, her foster parenting, her run for the presidency - that's why she's quitting - its all catching up - she's hoping and praying they forget about her - but I won't!!!  She's not the bumbling idiot she would like us all to believe.  She is calculating and devious and pure evil.  She steals from the taxpayers on ALL levels is probably one of the biggest welfare receivers.  This woman needs to go to prison and her husband needs to close his clinic get a divorce and go downtown to the Gay 90's and stop pretending.

But I thought she was told to do stuff by God? hmmm... (what a piece of work, her connections to convicted felon Frank Vennes and efforts to get his first conviction commuted is what I think is the most corrupt. Did you know Vennes was a Rove plant and Bachmann, Coleman and Pawlenty all worked to get his felony conviction repealed? That's how she got elected. When elected and asked what she wanted to happen in her first term she replied, not to go to jail. Are we surprised?

Did you know they stopped the investigation because of lack of evidence? Name one law she broke???

How about being corrupt for just putting in the MINIMUM 8 years to get her retirement pension and medical for life? How many of us would leave our jobs if we knew after 8 years we got FULL pension and healthcare for life?

I wouldn't be surprised at the in-depth look under every rock. Investigating and alleged are two key words that don't mean guilty in the USA. I dare anyone to look at (google) the "investigation" of any presidential candidate's campaign funds. Laurel, in your world is it normal to name call because someone voted for someone you didn't like?

They are all corrupt...don't get it twisted. How about Senator Klobuchar and Senator Franken who can somehow justify voting against the labeling of food products that contain GMO ingredients?

The longer she gets media attention, the more the public is going to believe that insanity is acceptable in government.

I get that she sucks. I really do not like her or her husband. However, is this supposed to be a surprise given her line of work. If you think anyone, including Obama, made it where they are without some shady dealings...well you lose your news priveleges indefinitely. I don't know why I continue to read these politically biased news sources like CP.

If she is corrupt what does that make Barry and his regime???

I think you are buying into the idea that non-partisan automatically requires the same manufactured balance that the mainstream media uses. Does it surprise you in the least that the party of the wealth elite and the corporate few might somehow be more corrupt?

Not surprised in anything CREW says anymore. It's like a left-wing, organizational version of whacky Michele.

@Jim Moore Hmmm, that must be why Hillary will likely be our next president while Michelle fades into obscurity.

@Matt OneUp Guertin Labeling GMO foods would be a huge waste of time and money.  Over 50% of foods in the US contain genetically modified organisms.  If the federal government were to step in and require manufacturers to label their products, food costs would rise.  I don't suppose anyone believes these companies are going to do something for free out of the goodness in their hearts.  These additional costs are going to be passed onto the consumers who wanted the change along with everyone else.  Then these consumers are going to have a whole new thing to cry about.  If you or anyone else doesn't want to eat GMOs, then do the research and purchase products that do not contain them.

@James Joseph Lewis Here's a hint:  Since the beginning of time stupid dipshits have said this thinking it makes them sound smart.  In fact it makes them sound exactly as boring as every stupid boring asshole to ever say it.  Congrats on being the one trillionth idiot to say this in the history of the planet.   Simpleton.

@BioBeing Yeah like putting nutrition labels on food really caused prices to skyrocket?? Wow, gee it didn't.  Your argument is bogus and a Monstano a$$ kissing.

@CinBlueland First off you are a liar and anyone with a brain can tell.  You don't like Michele yet you feel the need to defend her on every story?   You are a liar.

Secondly it doesn't matter who funds CREW if they have verifiable facts on their side.   Since their report clearly states the methodology behind their findings and then sources why a politician is corrupt they have verifiable facts on their side.  You do not have facts on your side so you whine about George Soros like the bleating poorly informed Fox News watching idiot you are.

IF CREW was really unreliable you would cite the problems with the findings of their report.  You would cite sources on why Michele isn't corrupt.  Since you don't anyone with a brain knows you are a nothing but a stupid Michele Bachmann fan lying and spinning.  CREW cited corrupt Democrats right next to Republicans.   If what you said was true then the list would be all Republicans.   George Soros funds CREW because he hates corrupt politicians.  You hate CREW because it factually proves that Republicans are more corrupt than Republicans.

@karrezza @BioBeing Seems that a lot of people complain instead of doing research.  I purchase foods free of GMOs on a regular basis without the need for labels.  I don't use ignorance as an excuse.
