Man killed in shotgun accident posted many pro-firearm images on Facebook

This image, originally posted on Facebook by a group called "Protect the Second Amendment," was shared by a Minnesota man killed in a gun accident over the weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, Nevis resident Adam Poole was killed in a duck hunting accident on Crow Wing Lakes when his hunting partner lost his balance in their boat and accidentally shot Poole in the head with a shotgun.

A search of Poole's public Facebook profile reveals he shared the photo at the top of this post on his Facebook page earlier this year, along with many other pro-firearm images. His dog is apparently named "Trigger."

According to his profile, Poole was 23 and was recently married. Authorities are treating his death as an accident and over the weekend released a statement encouraging hunters to be especially careful when toting guns in boats.

I wonder if any drunk driving deaths have "Liked" any beer, wine or liquor pages or posted many selfies at the bar?

i love how sympathetic liberals are to death. whenever someone dies, endless amounts of idiots post their condolences and what not.

this guy was a fkn idot gun nut who's ideas are on par with @Keny1 - and you left wing sicophants would be clawing all over eachother at the chance to post hate speech against the animated version of this dickhead. now that his STUPID friedn shot him in the head ( like dick cheney) you pathetic spineless pussies can only muster "how sad" and "how dare you"

he is dead...death is not a bad thing

Wow!  Way to trivialize a man's tragic death an a attempt to further illustrate your agenda City Pages.  This guy obviously deserved to die due to his beliefs and proclivity for expressing them on social media.  Fucking morons.

Guys that like motorcycles post pictures of motorcycles. And sometimes some of those guys die in motorcycle accidents.

The firearms fantasists are out in force on this story.  I wonder why.  Morons routinely kill themselves and each other every hunting season in Minnesota.  When I was growing up on the farm 40 years ago, we used to have to keep the dogs and cattle locked in the barn, and wear blaze orange while doing the chores.  No kidding; every year some jackass would shoot a cow, or a dog, a kid, or his buddy.  It wouldn't usually make the news but the game warden would call around warning people.

So now some clown who loved to make tough-guy postings threatening people with guns and throwing tantrums against any common-sense precautions about just handing out firearms to anybody; he gets killed because neither he nor his buddy could be bothered to take basic safety measures?  I tell you, this is Darwin's theory at work.  How many 23 year-old men have we all seen doing insanely dangerous, incredibly stupid things?  When they do it with a car or a motorcycle or a circular saw we say, "Oh, my God, how stupid.  His young wife should kill him."  When they do it with a gun we're supposed to just bow our heads?"

I'm sorry, even in today's demented political environment, just claiming a right to own guns does not mean that idiotic dangerous behavior is an inviolable political right.

This isn't an analogy to rape, or choking, or a car wreck.  I think we all know that and we're just loudly making excuses.

This is a guy who openly espoused dangerous behavior and opposed reasonable behavior, then getting killed by the exact irresponsible behavior he championed.  If it's a choking analogy, then it would be a competitive eater choking on that 50th hot dog in 10 minutes.  If it's a car wreck analogy, it's a guy who insists illegal street racing should be allowed, wrapping his car around a light pole.  There's no rape analogy because rape is caused by another person's violence, and this clown died due to his own belligerent irresponsibility.

Still, it's kind of mean to laugh about it.

Marcus, after a comment like that I have a pretty good hunch you are quite an evil human being. I hope I am wrong and you are just extremely intoxicated. Good luck in where you take yourself in life sir.

I cannot believe how low City Pages went here. Are we supposed to laugh at this person's accidental death? Is this funny to you, Aaron Rupar? Schadenfreude is best kept to one's self. Observing irony is not all that clever. This is the worst thing I have ever seen in the City Pages. This approaches the Westboro Baptist Church for it's insensitivity.

Mocking dead people?

So when a person who works at a car dealership dies in a car crash, you will do a mocking story?

Or when someone who LOVES cancer research dies of cancer, you will do a mocking story?

City Pages?! Are you SERIOUSLY laughing a man who just died?! I cannot believe how low you went, Aaron Rupar. Are we supposed to be impressed by your clever observation of irony here? Unbelieveable.

I would liken it more so to the idiots who drink themselves to death. Looking back at their Facebook page littered with photos of all the drunken nights.

guns and a car are like comparing apples to oranges. you can certainly protect your car and your ass sitting in the car with your gun. read the sign again...it was meant to let you know that he is armed...and used a little humor at the same time...and he's probably a good shot!

@stephmakens I don't deserve anybody deserves to die, even though I know we all will, eventually.

However, those of us who make jokes about how a human life is less important to us than the cost of another bullet, and then go out and get killed by prancing around in a boat with loaded shotguns; well, that's just a little too funny not to observe.

_Joe_
_Joe_

@jo1glex The problem with your argument is that you don't know that anyone was doing something stupid.  It is possible that every safety measure was taken.  That's why they call them accidents.  Also, attributing the "stupid" to the victim is kind of foolish, since he didn't shoot himself.  Where's your big tirade on the guy who now has to live with accidentally shooting his friend?  Maybe you should email it to him.  He'd probably want to read it.

_Joe_

@Tali Blekhman And people don't get killed because they own guns and talk about them on facebook.

Do you get the point now?

@mingtran no they are stupid...as he got shot in the head by his friend...that is stupid...and laughable

jo1glex
jo1glex

@_Joe_  Yes I do know that somebody was doing something stupid.  Two guys were in a boat with shotguns, and they both stood up at the same time with their loaded and unsafetied shotguns, and as anybody who has ever seen a cartoon knows would happen they both fell over, and one guy blew the other guy's head off.

By definition, "Doing Something Stupid."

You're right; the guy who actually pulled the trigger is a fraction more stupid than the guy who got killed.  Except the guy who got killed thought it was really cute and funny to post slogans claiming that the cost of a bullet is more important to him than a human life.  This is the sort of thinking that made Pol Pot a household name.  Ha-ha-ha.  Isn't that cute and funny, to advocate murder because it's cute and funny.

Dude who now has to live with having shot his friend is lucky he won't spend the rest of his life in prison.  If he'd done something equally idiotic with a car or a circular saw and killed a man he'd be in prison for at least a couple of years.  But in our weird culture you can do god-damned near anything with a gun and it's your Constitutional right to be a menace to life and limb due to your irresponsibility and inability to handle a tool properly.

I'd love to think the surviving guy understands that everybody knows what a dangerous idiot he is.  He should have to wear a gigantic flashing neon sign for the rest of his life, everywhere he goes, lest he kill anybody else.

jo1glex
jo1glex

@_Joe_ No, you are correct.

Although some people, as in this case, own guns; don't take their responsibilities and risks seriously; make idiotic jokes about it proving their lack of mental capacity to take seriously the responsibilities they have voluntarily taken on; then they go out and handle their completely optional and voluntary weapons in a dangerous and irresponsible fashion; and that gets them killed.

I don't see you making idiotic ha-ha-ha posts about killing people, and you keep posting so I assume you handle your guns responsibly.  As opposed to the two jokers in this story.

Do you get the point now?

In other words, you don't know shit.
