Michele Bachmann wants House to hold hearings about impeaching President Obama

For President Clinton, impeachment was about a sex scandal. For Obama, it could be about trying to reform America's health care system.
Welp, we suppose this shouldn't come as a surprise, but during the same tea party conference call where Michele Bachmann said she's never twerked, she also said she wants the House to hold impeachment hearings about President Obama.

SEE ALSO: Michele Bachmann is worried about Somali terrorists attacking the Mall of America [AUDIO]

"We can have an impeachment hearing in the House, and in my mind the President has committed impeachable offenses," Bachmann said, to which the host of the tea party call responded, "I agree."

Bachmann didn't specify which of Obama's "offenses" she thinks warrant impeachment -- though one can't help but think they have something to do with her belief Barack is secretly trying to institute Sharia law here in the United States -- but she acknowledged that even if the House impeached Obama, the Democrat-controlled Senate wouldn't allow the him to be removed from office.

So what's plan B for folks like her who just absolutely cannot stand the idea of letting Obama finish out his term with the benefit of a functioning Congress? Why, Egypt-style rioting, of course!

On that note, more from Bachmann's conference call:
I think that what we saw in Egypt this summer, the people there didn't have impeachment, they rose up, they threw out the Muslim Brotherhood from power 'cause they couldn't stand the tyrannical oppression.

I think here, we could be on the cusp of seeing some civil disobedience. I'm not saying I want civil disobedience, but people aren't going to take the thuggery of this President much longer. And that's part of what we're trying to do as the peoples' voice in the House of Representatives. Give voice to the fact that we see thuggery going on in the White House. We're not going to take it.
Here's the audio (via Right Wing Watch):

Bachmann and other House Republicans who refuse to move past Obamacare might be representing the majority of their constituents in their conservative districts, but as we've had occasion to tell you before, they aren't in step with most Americans. Since the federal government shutdown began October 1, polling has consistently shown both that a majority of Americans want it to end and that more Americans blame Republicans in Congress for the gridlock than President Obama.

So the 2014 election might end up being a day of reckoning for House Republicans. Then again, since she isn't running for reelection, Bachmann doesn't have to worry about it. And we'd have to imagine her lame-duck status is a major reason she seems more unhinged than ever these days.

It should be noted that the so called Obamacare Program was proposed in Congress originally under President Carter and Mr. Romney put in place an almost identical system in his STATE. In fact, it is reasonable to assume that the reason Mr. Obama advocated this health plan is because so many legislators of both parties had previously advocated such and where it was implimented in Romney's state. IT APPEARS TO WORK WELL!!!!!
I would advise the few republicans who wish impeachment to be aware that we "The American People" are NOT as stupid as you think and they're actions will backfire, as this entire event has already done so. Instead of worrying about impeachment they should start worrying about the Democratic Candidate that their voters are going to replace them with!!!!! And incidently I'm a republican and as John Tower, my good friend would have said, Stupidity can be found on both sides of the asle.

In response to this b*llsh*t! A very few republican congress members apparently are aware that many of the fellow republicans IE "VOTERS" are actually stupid enough to think that Mr. Obama created this problem, apparently according to the polls 78% of the American public are aware that a few republician congress men and women created the problem simply in an attempt to rid America of a Black President. Interestly, those that agree with me on who was responsible include John McCain, Former Republican Candidate, Alan Greenspan Former Monetary Director, Warren Buffet Multi-Billionaire and most free world leaders and economist. The chances of a successful impeachment are ZERO!!!!!! Because the senators republican and democrat are CLEARLY MORE INTELLIGENT than these few RADICAL REPUBLICAN RACIST CONGRESS PEOPLE!!!!!!

Michele Bachmann should definitely rethink her rash comments, use of the word "thuggery," and general unhinged reaction to the government's current state. Putting blame on a sole party for an issue that is far more deep-rooted than just democrat versus republican is ignorant, immature, and misinformed. To get past these hard times, the United States needs to rethink its entire political structure, not impeach its president.

Absolutely IMPEACH THE POSER.  He is guilty of killing Americans, abetting the enemy and multiple crimes against the American people.  If you turn a blind eye to his offenses, you are just as guilty.

Ms Bachmann has broken the law in Iowa, why shouldn't congress enact impeachment hearings against her?

Since she's so afraid of Muslims I have a solution. Give her a gun and drop her in the middle of a Taliban camp in Afghanistan. Let's see her blame Obama for that one.

Impeachment is a pretty ballsy threat to fling around for someone under federal investigation for campaign fraud.

First, they make an observation with a slight hint of advocating it: "I think here, we could be on the cusp of seeing some civil disobedience." Then they leave themselves a way out, refusing to take ownership and responsibility, yet overtly sympathizing for the disenfranchised minority they're bilking all the way to the bank: "I'm not saying I want civil disobedience, but people aren't going to take the thuggery of this President much longer." And finally, they advocate it. Sort of: "And that's part of what we're trying to do as the peoples' voice in the House of Representatives. Give voice to the fact that we see thuggery going on in the White House. We're not going to take it." The typical incitement strategy from the radical right, elite-class playbook.

lol 4 Americans. Well if he should be impeached for 4 American deaths, then Bush and Cheney should be publicly disemboweled for the deaths of 4,000 Americans and a half million Iraqis. Jackass.

Obamacare is going to absolutely shred the infrastructure of our medical system, it is going to send health insurance premiums soaring, it is going to dramatically expand the size and the scope of government, it is going to fundamentally alter the relationships between doctors and their patients and it is one of the largest tax increases in U.S. history. Not only that, it is also going to add about a trillion dollars to our national debt over the next decade. So no, the Obamacare decision is not good news. Obamacare was one of the worst pieces of legislation in American history, and now we are stuck with it.

Today, a Finance 101 lesson for the President…President Obama accused Republicans of risking default if they don’t raise the debt ceiling. He should be trying to calm markets and reassure our creditors, not panic them. That was worse than irresponsible, it was just wrong. True, Washington spends more than it brings in. That’s why we need a good credit rating. But Washington brings in $3 trillion a year. The interest on the debt is about $416 billion. That’s outrageous, but it’s still just one-seventh of Washington’s income. God knows, they weren’t planning to pay down the principal. So all it takes to prevent default is to pay the interest. We have more than enough income to cover it, and since the law requires us to pay that first, it will be paid. Voila! No default. So maybe now, the leaders of both parties can take a timeout to think about how they brought America to the point that it’s easy to believe our economy would collapse if we couldn’t borrow another trillion dollars by Tuesday. How will impeachment cost anyone their "free lunch"? As the post clearly mentioned, the Senate has to remove a President from office. Impeachment wouldn't repeal Obamacare, either.

Also, buying insurance from a private company is not a "free lunch".

@Adrian Cloud No he doesn't Adrian. Not even close. He is responsible for ending one unfunded Bush war and on his way at ending the other unfunded war. It's like the debt; you can't blame Obama for debt created under the previous president. Pay attention, please.

@Adrian Cloud But who caught the number one terrorist in the world?  I'm not saying miss sensitive, that it's ok to lose live for one man but they knew what they signed up for when they went. And what did bush produce? Nothing that i've seen with the troops under his "watchful" eye. Pray for their souls

I notice how the Right sees civil disobedience as noble when they do it.

When Ellison does it, it's criminal behaviour, though.

I also remember back three years ago, when people like Bachmann told us that they the majority and they were taking over. Now, they claim they are a poor, persecuted minority that is forced to take on the majority just to survive.

And none of them see a contradiction there. They fervently belief both narratives at the same time, and voice whichever is convenient at the moment - while denying that they ever believed the other narrative.

@Jason Pierce Do you honestly think your "plan" to prevent default will work, or are you just being disingenuous? Congress sets how much money the government spends. Congress sets how much money the government takes in. That's the law, no one can just arbitrarily decide to only pay off the interest and ignore everything else.

green23
green23 topcommenter

I know. If he followed that "plan", they'd impeach him for being a "dictator".
