Minnesota Daily was named to this year's Sports Illustrated 25 under 25 -- a diverse list of star performers and prodigies who toil in and out of the arena.

Technically the student-run paper of the U of M is 113 years old, but who's counting? Its writers, of course, are all of college age.

In bestowing the honor, SI cited several of the Daily's recent awards. The Society of Professional Journalists has named it the Best Affiliated Website among student publications for two years running. In 2012, it also took home an award for Sports Writing for a piece entitled "The Economics of Athletics" by Derek Wetmore.

Other non-athletes to make SI's list include a couple of stat gurus and RocNation, a new agency founded by Jay-Z. The student-journalists of the Daily weren't the only writers.

Tim Rohan, an intern with the New York Times, was covering the Mets last summer when Johan Santana pitched the team's first no-hitter. According to SI, 23-year-old Rohan "has since parlayed the internship -- and that historic night -- into the full-time Mets beat, making him one of the youngest beat writers in sports."

It would appear the Daily is in good company. Congrats.
