Rick Nolan calls on Obama to "man up" and fire somebody over Obamacare website debacle

ObamaNolan.jpg
We can say this about Nolan -- he isn't shy about calling out Obama administration officials, including the president himself.
Last month, Rick Nolan went toe to toe with John Kerry over Syria policy. Now, Minnesota's Democratic 8th congressional district representative is putting the president on blast.

This week, Nolan, speaking about the Obamacare website debacle, called on President Obama to "man up, find out who was responsible, and fire them," according to an AP report. He used the same "man up" phrase during an interview with WCCO, adding that "I feel that the people responsible for this did a terrible disservice to the Affordable Care Act and to the president by allowing this thing to go forward when they knew it wasn't ready."

Nolan didn't name names. The Washington Post reports that congressional Republicans have called for Obama to sack Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius over the enrollment problems stemming from the crash-prone HealthCare.gov site.

This week, Obama acknowledged problems with the site but stopped short of busting out pink slips.

"There's no sugarcoating it: The website is too slow; people have been getting stuck during the application process," Obama said at a White House event on Monday. "No one is madder about the website than I am, which means it's going to get fixed."

I think they all need raises and more benefits. They should borrow another 7-8 trillion. And give everyone with out jobs and illegal immigrants a brand new house, free health care and cash money every month to live. And tax the rich more. Like they don't pay enough taxes as it is.

Nolan's heart is in the right place, but I still feel like we haven't fired anyone responsible for the financial and regulatory collapse of our banking systems either...

Wow, that was a tough stand for ol' Nolan to take. He's really out on a ledge. I think I can safely say that it's a "bi-partisan" desire to have that website work right. ( and when has a first-version of a website EVER worked correctly, let alone within the government)

Wait...I thought the problems with Obamacare are Bush's fault. I'm confused. I thought every problem Obama encounters in his presidency is Bush's fault. He is never accountable for anything I thought, so this must somehow be Bush's fault. Not a surprise that Obamacare has been a major failure so far. It's a government run program, what did you expect? And don't forget, this is Bush's fault. Nothing is ever Obama's fault. Dear leader is perfect.

What's hilarious is that anyone expected it to work perfectly right out of the gate.

Fire someone over problems that happen over 3 weeks? Someone remind Nolan that the ACA has 6 months to get all the kinks out. Too early to fire people.

Rick Nolan is the man. Seriously. Out of congress 20 years, back in, three bipartisan bills? Professional.

@Kent Erickson  - " It's a government run program."

Uh, not really. With the exception to the Medicaid expansion, it's an insurance "exchange" that helps folks find health insurance from private insurance companies.

@Matthew MartinTry 3+ years to get ready for this. Obama stating he was clueless either shows lack of oversight or that Sebelius was flat out lying to him and should be fired on those grounds alone.

I did not have high expectations for the site nor the program, but the experts that have already reviewed the site all concur it's a technical mess.

@Stefanie Megan Brown    With a face like that, looks like you need to "man down" a little bit there

@CinBlueland  - The Developers only had 6 months from the time they got the specs from the governmental officials.

According to the Wall Street Journal, only 1% of the code needs to be re-written to get the website to function properly (of course one can always set up an account over the phone, but who has 3 minutes to do that?)

Well, we certainly know that she's a liberal. Look at her FB photos. She has all of the qualifications:

1. Bitter and spiteful

2. Hideous, manly-looking face

3. Large thighs

4. Big ass.

@CinBlueland

And that's the reason why it will fail. It won't get anywhere near the enrollment numbers that it was expected to. The numbers aren't out yet, but I venture to guess that the vast majority of people who have enrolled are low-income earners who will get it 100% subsidized. In other words, it is just an extension of welfare.

@MicheleBachmann @Onan @CinBlueland Hey MB!

Anyways, I've been following the news at Forbes but I'll accept your 6 months, (although I thought that was what MN had to get theirs up)

As for the rest, well there is no real need to sabotage anything. Unless young healthy people sign up in droves it will collapse on its on.. but we know that won't happen as the cost overruns mount we'll just throw more tax dollars at it. It's the American way.

@Onan @CinBlueland Your facts and logic are just bouncing off of Cin's stupid complaining.   All Republicans like Cin can do is complain and lie.   They have nothing substantial to offer when it comes to healthcare.    The American people aren't idiots Cin.  We know all Republicans care about is sabotage.   People are going to punish you traitors in 2014.  Obamacare is the conservative plan and you idiots just fight it.   This is a real issue and you assholes are just playing the stupidest most childish games.  Obamacare is a success in states run by Democrats because they care about helping people.  Obamacare is having problems in red states because Republicans are scum that would rather play games then help people get healthcare.
