Ron Powell arrested in connection with Champions Sports Bar murder [MUGSHOT]

Ron Powell
Last Friday, Ron Powell was arrested in connection with a shooting at Champions Sports Bar on August 9 that last one man injured and an innocent bystander dead.

Powell, 42, was arrested in a Walmart parking lot in Fargo. KFGO reports he's also accused of robbing a hair clipper from the store. Authorities in the Fargo area had previously been notified by the FBI that Powell was a suspect in the Minneapolis slaying and was likely in the area.

From an MPD press release:
Ron Christopher Powell, dob 4/4/71 has been arrested and charged with three felonies: Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. Powell was arrested on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 8:30pm in Fargo, North Dakota and is in custody in North Dakota.

From the criminal complaint, Anthony Orlando Collins, assault victim (victim 2) in this case, had previous altercations with Powell. On the night of August, 8, 2013, Collins was celebrating his birthday at Champions Bar, 105 West Lake Street when he saw Powell. Collins walked up to Powell and began punching him. Powell fell to the floor, pulled out a gun and fired three shots. Mark Anthony Stephenson, dob 12/24/61, died at HCMC after being shot in the femoral artery. Mark Stephenson did not have any connections to Powell or Collins. The criminal complaint is attached.
After the shooting, Champions' management blamed the Minneapolis Police Department for creating the conditions in which a shooting could happen inside the south Minneapolis bar (for more context, read this post from last winter detailing rising tensions between Champions and the MPD).

people always think differently I understand a innocent man was killed and my heart and prayers go out to the family but the man who caused this man ron to shoot should be in much trouble as him he approached him and he took off hitting him first from what I hear the man ron was shot more than eight times anybody who been shot that many times would act in aggressive manner for his life the whole situation was bs but that Collins guys should get time too he should of left pow alone and the results may have been different I think ron was acting in self defense but it hurts to see a man that didn't have anything to do it with the altercation die sad but let god be with him
