Tom Emmer has gotten national ridicule over the past two weeks, but he's also gotten money -- lots of it, his campaign announced today.

Since Emmer announced his bid for retiring U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's congressional seat in June, he's reported six-figure donation hauls, starting with $220,000 in just the first month of his campaign.

Today, he reported another $150,000, meaning that in four months, his campaign has raised more than $370,000 from 1,400 individual donors. Emmer for Congress has $275,000 cash on hand.

Emmer, who lost the Minnesota gubernatorial race in 2010, is one of four GOPers vying to replace Bachmann in the Sixth Congressional District. For some context on Emmer's fundraising numbers: One of those competitors, Minnesota Senator John Pederson, reports $52,000 raised in the third quarter, which bumps him up to $87,000 raised so far overall, according to the St. Cloud Times.

Maybe with all this dough, Emmer can stop signing on to questionably legal remodeling commercials.

I have no doubt whatsoever Emmer will win that seat.  Unless he somehow implodes. He's more than capable of that.  The first time I became aware of him was one night a few years back when Public TV was broadcasting the legislative proceedings toward the end of the session.  Emmer was screaming, red-faced, spittle flying; shouting incoherent nonsense about something that wasn't true anyway.  It was shocking. I wondered who that loony was.  Next time I heard of him, he was running for Governor and the rest we all witnessed.

He might implode by getting busted for drunk driving.  There's something fishy about his record on that issue.  Somebody he has bullied with his law license might speak up, despite his care to always get confidentiality clauses as a condition of settling the numerous lawsuits he files against people; sometimes contractors whom he refuses to pay for their work.

But if he doesn't implode, he'll go to the US House.  He'll fit right in with the dregs of the GOP House delegation, the Louie Gohmert, Randy Neugebauer, Todd Rokita, David Schweikert, Lee Terry, Ted Yoho,  Steve Pearce, Steve Stockman, and the rest.  Really lousy human beings, all of them. And Tom Emmer.

He'll win. The mouth breathers in the 6th who voted for Bachmann wouldn't vote any other way. Even if their lives depended on.

I once saw Tom Emmer rape a crippled baby, and when he was done he ate it. I would have stopped him, but the baby was kinda asking for it. #truestory

@Mike Green Minnesota is.  Republicans might not be.  Republicans are the party that insists on sending unqualified scum to Congress.  Just remember to not vote for any of them.   Where is John Kline and Erik Paulsen?   They vote the exact same as Bachmann and Emmer they are just smart enough to not say all the stupid stuff Bachmann says.
