The Vikings' no-good-very-bad day continued this afternoon as Hennepin County authorities announced that since-released cornerback A.J. Jefferson has been charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation.

That's the same charge that was levied against cornerback Chris Cook roughly two years ago. Cook was ultimately acquitted and remains on the team.

According to the criminal complaint, Jefferson's girlfriend of three years showed up at an Eden Prairie police station around 5:30 Monday morning with red marks on both sides of her neck.

Here's the full story as told by the complaint:
On or about November 25, 2013 at approximately 5:30am Officer Brown of the Eden Prairie Police Department met with a female more fully identified in reports. Officer Brown immediately noted that the female was visibly upset and crying and had red marks on both sides of her neck. She indicated that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend of three years who she lives with, ANTHONY RAY JEFFERSON JR., the Defendant. She said they had been out in downtown Minneapolis and then returned to the couple's home on Tiffany Lane in Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Once they arrived at the residence an argument began and the Defendant went to a neighbor's home and she went to sleep in the guest bedroom. She was awoken by the Defendant and he began to confront her about ignoring his texts. She could tell he was very mad and it became physical when the Defendant grabbed her neck and she could not breathe. After this initial assault he continued to yell at her and then again grabbed her neck again and this time he picked her up by the neck and moved her off the bed onto the floor and continued to physically attack her by grabbing her neck again. She said she did not fight back because she was having a hard time breathing and he is a lot bigger than her.
In a press release, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman put Jefferson on blast.

"We are saddened at the continuing inability of men to get this simple message: Don't hit, strangle, slap, or in any other way assault your wife or girlfriend," Freeman said. "It is wrong morally and criminally and we will prosecute you, as we do hundreds of men every year."

Jefferson was released by the Vikings right around the time news of his arrest broke Tuesday morning. He faces up to three years in prison if convicted.

The Pioneer Press's Brian Murphy reports that Jefferson is still in custody: -- Follow Aaron Rupar on Twitter at @atrupar. Got a tip? Drop him a line at arupar@citypages.com.

It's a shame, all that money and he still can't fix all that ugly! These guys are all thugs! Really love the idea of financing a stadium for these a-holes!

No wonder why we have such a sucky team. It's being played by low-down scumbag losers who probably had no good daddy growing up to show them how to be a man. A real man doesn't hit women. Or lay down with all kinds of women making more daddy-less kids. Or drives drunk.

Why should we even care about football when most of the players are jackasses?
