MNGOP Secretary Chris Fields defends Catholic Church, foresees racial uprising

Martin (left) and Fields.
Last night, DFL Chair Ken Martin and one of our old favorites, MNGOP Secretary Chris Fields, got into a scorched earth-style Twitter war.

It all started with this seemingly innocuous tweet from Martin (we can only imagine the subtle shot he takes at the Catholic Church is in reference to stories like this and this):

But Fields, who last week said he found "nothing offensive" about a Chisago County GOP Facebook post that at best made light of slavery and at worst was itself racist, didn't let Martin's shot at the church slide: And then... well, the tweets tell the tale: Fields then alluded to some sort of racial uprising he sees on the American horizon: So that's where that feud stands for now. This morning, MNGOP Secretary Keith Downey attempted to jump into the fray, but as this is published nobody has yet taken him up on the offer: We'll keep you posted!

Every time I mention some of the things listed above my left of center friends put their fingers in their ears and say "la la la la la la.."

You do realize regardless of the ethnicity of the current occupant of the White House that the Democrats are the proslavery, pro Jim Crow, pro segregation party right? Also, that as late as LBJ who said about the Great Society Legislation 'I will have those N*****s voting Democrat for the next 200 years' because it was a ploy to make them dependent and at the same time shore up the image of the worst party in America. Call or insinuate that the Republicans are racists but MLK was Republican as was Lincoln and so history shows the DNC to be one of the worst in terms of race even today. Not to mention Obama funding a protest rally for Trayvon as a race baiting ploy among all the rest of the racially charged rhetoric, (Like this post). Please know your history and don't get sucked into the false narratives, then again this is a pretty liberal publication so whatever. I myself could care less both sides are corrupt so we are really just dividing & destroying this country instead of uniting and repairing it. Think about it like this the rhetoric is so extreme from the left as to call hispanic Ted Cruz a Racist because he believes in LEGAL immigration and love or hate the rest of his politics the basically are calling him an uncle tom along with Dr. Benjamin S. Carson who is a Brain Surgeon and opposes the ACA because it IS a Trojan Horse as exemplified by all the lies to sell it that have now been exposed given it has made healthcare LESS AFFORDABLE... Most are denial on the left but many of my friends who like I identified that way from the time we could vote realized it was lies and that most of the Traitors in DC on both sides are self serving and complete liars. Keep supporting the false left/right paradigm we are moving into the Libertarian (Not the party) vs Authoritarian era IE Liberty vs Tyranny. That is what city pages should be writing about. If you deny this Obama and McCain may as well be in the same party and that was our choice in 2008 and how rabid were you then? Outcome would have been the EXACT same.

Sometimes I think Chris Fields has launched a dadaist campaign to move towards a post-racial society. But other times I think he is just another disingenuous politician.

The MNGOP disses pretty much all religions other than Judeo-Christian. Some might remember their howls of protest when the Dalai Lama addressed the Legislature; obviously he was a "cult leader". Can anyone recall conservatives being "disrespectful" of Islam? Or Franson's slander of Wiccans?

For a Party that seems so very concerned about being "silenced", Fields' intolerance of Church critics is hilariously hypocritical.

The only "religious freedom" that conservatives believe in is your freedom to be Christian - and to ignore any law counter to those beliefs. Everyone else should just be happy that conservatives allow them to exist...for now.

@Justin Hamilton Wow! You are fucking insane. I lost track of the outright lies a quarter of the way down. I hope a brain like yours doesn't own any firearms because if you do, I have a feeling we'll be seeing you on the news one of these days. Yikes!

That's some real "unifying" talk, isn't it? Kind of like how Fields' campaign theme was a call to "come together" in our hatred of Democrats.

@Justin Hamilton I find the fact that you plead for others to "know their history" in the middle of your diatribe hilarious.

ease off the kool-aid man.

@Justin Hamilton  Like all stupid racist Republicans Justin thinks everyone on Earth is as stupid as he is.  He figures that by lying, citing dubious historical facts, and cherrypicking half truths he will convince people that Republicans aren't a bunch of bigot idiots.   Smart people will read his lunatic ravings and think how much it hurts the United States when one political party is apparently completely made up of insane lying bigots.   Justin, we aren't stupid.  Smart people pay attention to the news and we have watched how Republicans constantly disrespect the President.    We watch how Republicans act on immigration reform.  We watch how minorities vote in this country.   We pay attention to how popular Republicans make a racist like Rush Limbaugh.   You are the idiot, not us. Notice how I don't have to go back to the 1960s to prove that modern Republicans aren't a bunch of bigot assholes?   That's because I'm not lying you stupid lying bigot.  Learn how to write a sentence before giving smart people a lecture on history.

Do you know your history?

Yeah. The question on my mind throughout his screed was,"Who is he trying to convince?". Anyone that believes that is already a wingnut, and would back anything Fields said.

Conservatives have completely abandoned any attempt to persuade those outside of their bubble over to their side. They seem to believe that, if they only repeat their delusions loudly and stridently enough, people will agree. So,by failing to buy in to their fantasy world, you are somehow 'cheating'. You aren't following the script that they wrote. And that means that you are 'silencing' them.

@MicheleBachmann The rosetta stone to counter @Justin Hamilton 's screed is Strom Thurmond. Once he realizes who that was, it puts that history into perspective.

Or, one could say anyone who DOESN'T believe what he says is a wing nut. It's interesting you don't point out his "lies", only insinuate he's a stupid liar. Whatever makes you feel good
