Check out this video of insane pileup on Wisconsin highway

Think the roads are bad here? You're right, of course. But over the weekend, they were as bad, if not worse, in Wisconsin, where at least three people died because of crashes on slick roads on Sunday.

Dramatic footage of one of a number of pileups in southeast Wisconsin on Sunday has been released by the state's Department of Transportation. Suffice it to say it's porn for people who like to watch cars slamming into each other.

Here's the footage:

Miraculously, nobody was killed during the roughly 50-car wreck, which occurred on Highway 41/45 in Germantown. (UPDATE -- as pointed out by commenter brill029 below, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports there actually was one death as a result of two pileups on Highway 41/45 on Sunday, but based on the report it's unclear whether the fatality happened during the massive wreck in the video above or during another earlier in the day.)

Accident reports that are submitted to the state ask for quite a bit of information about parties involved, nature of the damage, diagrams, injuries, etc. Nothing about that crash was simple. I worked for an insurance company for 7 years. Not an expert but I know a little.

Paul that's hilarious. They don't reconstruct anything they just send insurance claims to every single car that was even nearby that accident that day and see what sticks.

Sadly, this could happen in Minnesota at any time. There are way too many bad drivers out there.

That was near my hometown, and three people lost their lives. Very sad. Why don't people drive slower, it was Sunday, what's the rush? :(

@talkhoops I would maybe remove the "this is porn" line given the uncertainty about whether someone died.

@talkhoops Who the hell are those people getting out of their cars and walking into the highway?

Those cars were going WAY TOO fast for those conditions - even if there was no stalled car ahead of them. Hope people learn from this.

People need to slow down when the weather demands it ! I'm surprised to see all the people getting out of their cars even when cars were still crashing into the pile-up. Crazy !!!

Right around the 4:30 marker did not look good, you can tell from how the people on the ground reacted off to the right that some serious shit happened there. All because one guy decided going 45 on a hwy in subzero weather and limited visibility was a good idea. I think it's important to see videos like this to show what types of driving habits cause situations like this to develop and deteriorate. My thoughts are with anyone who lost their life or was hurt in any way during this collision.

The best idea in any vehicle pileup is to get out of your vehicle and walk around

Can't believe people are out walking around in the road when cars are losing control.

It's like most of the drivers don't see the cars that are stopped ahead and decide to speed up because they have room in front of them.  Going wayyy  to fast.

Usually if I can't see what's coming, I slow down...but hey, that's just me, a smart driver talking.

and how could they not see the cars stopped and that some cars are facing the wrong way.  Hey, maybe I should slow down, I see cars stopped ahead and some of them are facing the wrong way.

Irrelevant, and wrong, as usual. It's amazing how you have nothing meaningful to add, yet find new ways to continue doing it.
