MPD releases images of suspect who robbed five south Mpls businesses at gunpoint this morning

Between 4 and 6:30 a.m. this morning, the same suspect robbed five south Minneapolis businesses at gunpoint -- four SuperAmericas and a Walgreens. He wasn't arrested.

"The suspect is described as a heavy-set black male, 20-30 years old, dressed in all black with a black knit hat, and a black face mask covering the lower portion of his face," an MPD news release says. "In at least two of the robberies he was wearing glasses. He brandished a black semi-automatic handgun in each of the robberies. Loss from these robberies includes cash and a small amount of narcotics (from Walgreens)."

Here are the five businesses that were robbed in chronological order, with the earliest incident at top:
SA - 6000 Portland Avenue South
Walgreens - 2426 Hennepin Avenue
SA - 2501 Hennepin Avenue
SA - 2200 Lyndale Avenue
SA - 4320 E. Lake Street
