That big new Loring Park building is as tall as it'll get [PHOTO]

Categories: Minneapolis
The LPM Apartments building that has been slowly rising above the Loring Park skyline was topped off at 36 floors yesterday.

SEE ALSO: Elan Uptown's apartment advertisement is extremely bro-y [PHOTO]

The building, owned by Chicago-based Magellan Development Group, will eventually feature 354 luxury apartments. Tenants could begin moving in next May, the Journal reports.

Rents haven't yet been determined, but considering the building will feature a fitness center, dog excercise and grooming facility, a splash pool, business center, and fire pits, we'd imagine the price tag will be at least as high as they are at the Uptown Bro-plexes.

Why shouldn't there be tall buildings in the densest residential area in the state? It's one block away from something about the same height. good grief people...

The comments in here are beyond ridiculous.  You all are the reason why people think of us as Minneso-duh.  Honestly, unlike the stale suburbs, Minneapolis is an evolving city.  Things change.  If you don't like it, move back to the Dakotas or Wisconsin.

What a monster. I drove by it the other night. It dwarfs all building's surrounding it. Yuck.

What an eyesore. I'm glad I no longer live in Loring Park.

If you have read the article (which I doubt that you did), the building doesn't exactly sounds affordable for the working class which would include many members of the Somalian community. Here's a suggestion...move to a lily white neighborhood if you don't like the Somalis like say Michele Bachmann's district.

@drea_carmen Which is pretty fucking tall. I was amused at first, but it's a ghastly thing.

It is across Spruce Place from the old Eitel Hospital, at 14th Street. It is on a half-block north-south parcel on the north side of 14th Street, between Spruce Place and LasSalle Avenue.

I'm not certain, but I think this is on the site of the old Eitel Hospital where my three kids were born!

My compliments though to them doing something architecturally interesting (at least, in comparison to said Bro-plexes).

This neighborhood is part of downtown. It's the densest area in the city. It's surrounded on 3 sides by other similarly tall buildings. The design has been universally praised for its elegance and simplicity. This is exactly what the city should be building and where it should be built.

@PlantsdotExB What do you find to be good architecture in this town? I kinda like it considering most buildings in Mpls are orthogonal.

Oh, and let's not forget to celebrate digitalprotocol's homophobia. It really is the hap-happiest time of the the year!

What an awful, racist thing to say. And uninformed (not surprisingly), too -- this is a luxury highrise, not immigrant housing.

 Considering it's a convex surface, we're fine.

edit: or, we're not. I didn't realize the Museum Tower was convex, too. I thought it'd be similar to that British building that melted the one guy's car.

Pretty sure the hospital was a block over and integrated into the apt/condos there.
