New Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges is wasting no time in trying to one-up her predecessor's hipster credentials.

Though she has yet to crowdsurf like R.T. Rybak, Hodges took to Twitter tonight to live tweet Die Hard.

"The Riverview offered to do a mayoral big screen showing," Mayor Hodges tells City Pages. "It's my favorite movie and tonight was the night."

Starting at 6:57 p.m., Hodges went on a tweeting spree that found her commenting on the '80s, product placement, and the absurdity of hosting an office party on Christmas Eve.

Also, you're not supposed to be using your phone in a theater. Hodges is off to a rocky start y'all.

Reginald Veljohnson was in Family Matters not Fresh Prince and I'm pretty sure he's still alive, R.I.P. Uncle Phil

@johnmaddening I believe the whole event was set up for her, so it may have been part of that. Under normal circumstances, however, I agree.

Still not as good as the time Michele Bachmann was live tweeting Magic Mike.   The first tweet was Michele saying hello.   The second tweet was her condemning the movie to hell.   Then the rest of the tweets were from Marcus Bachmann who explained Michele was going to bed and he would do the rest of the tweeting.   I was amazed Marcus was able to somehow come up with 250 different tweets about how sexy Channing Tatum looked.   The best part was how after the movie Marcus started tweeting Channing Tatum.  My favorite was:

@channingtatum   Yo Chan, luv how u look in Magic Mike.   So  yums. Have you ever felt the wicked urge of homosexual urges?   If you have, I can help you with that.

I love it because Marcus is so generous with his gift of talking to young men about gay sex.  He does a lot of good in the world.

@JoeWidmer @burnunit There was nothing in the description on the Riverview's website stating that one person was allowed to use their phone.

@JoeWidmer Crying? Calling out rude behavior is "crying" now? Yeesh, give me Saint Paul politics any day. Keep on smiling!

@johnmaddening The injustices and hypocrisies that torment you are vast. Don't let my signing-off stop you from crying. A whole day of cry.
