:::: UPDATE :::: Kingfield shooting results in Mpls's first 2014 homicide after victim unexpectedly dies

The Minneapolis Police Department wants to hear from anyone with information about a shooting that occurred around 9 p.m. on the 4500 block of 1st Avenue South in the normally quiet neighborhood of Kingfield last night.

According to MPD spokesman John Elder, police responding to the scene found an injured man in a vehicle. He had apparently been shot on the street.

The victim was transported to HCMC for treatment.

"This is not believed to be random," Elder told us. "Through investigatory leads we have found that we believe this is not a public safety concern."

Nonetheless, the MPD is on the hunt for the shooter. Elder said they don't have a description of the suspect at this time, but anybody with information is asked to the MPD tip line at 612-692-847.

This is scary. I grew up in the Kingfield neighborhood and went to Field School. I've never heard of any shootings in the neighborhood til now.

Would they just outlaw guns so people will stop shooting each other. ;)

"Elder said they don't have a description of the suspect at this time..........."

Which equates to: Victim isn't cooperating.

What really bugs me about this, and the murder that happened in Kingfield last month, is the authorities' immediate reaction of "We don't believe this was a random incident". I mean, people are getting shot. That's a problem regardless of how "random" it is. Right?

You mean like when everybody stopped doing drugs because they outlawed them?

SO criminals will obey the law and not get guns like they get drugs?   Figure it out already, guns in good hands are better than outlawing them, which puts them ONLY in criminal hands.
