The project will involve construction of a luxury hotel, office tower, an event area "similar to our rotunda," new retail space, and an underground parking ramp, according to Dan Jasper, MOA VP of public relations.

Asked when construction on the expansion will be complete, Jasper said August of next year.

"Our birthday is August 11, so my hope is that we'll have a big birthday party for the new opening," Jasper told us.

Jasper said MOA officials aren't yet ready to make a public announcement about major tenants, but the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports the new hotel will be a 342-room JW Mariott.

The Biz Journal also reports that the only public financing involved in the project is the $34 million in parking and infrastructure costs, which will be picked up by the city of Bloomington.
