Father Thomas Adamson and the Cathedral of St. Paul circa 1964
It's been one hell of a week for Catholic dioceses in Minnesota. First Robert Carlson, a former Twin Cities bishop, claimed he didn't know that child sex was a crime. Then a St. Cloud family came forward accusing Father Timothy "Timo" Backous of having molested their son in 1990.

Now comes Thomas Adamson, a former priest who confessed under oath to having sexually abused children decades ago. Below are some of the video highlights of a May 16 deposition taken by attorney Jeff Anderson and his soldiers.

A copy of the 242-page transcript -- which will be used in an upcoming trial against Adamson, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and the Diocese of Winona -- can be found here. The lawsuit accuses Adamson of having molested more than 20 boys between 1964 and 1984, when he was suspended from the ministry. Memos attached at the end of the deposition show that church officials shifted blame and purposely moved Adamson into parishes where he would cause less ruckus. For instance, Exhibit 29, a letter dated March 12, 1979:
I would urge you not to put Father Tom Adamson in a parish close to the Winona Diocese. It is precisely that problem that Bishop (Loras) Watters is concerned about. Southeastern section of the Twin Cities may be all right but I think anything in the southern part of our diocese would be disturbing to Bishop Watters.
In a statement released Wednesday, Anderson says, "No top official, for 30 years, ever asked Thomas Adamson how many kids he abused and who those kids were. It is both alarming and disturbing and a demonstration of what the priorities were and still are."

"This will happen". God, do you realize how stupid that sounds?

The core is Jesus. You sure about what you just said there?

Wait, so all of the contributions of the members to the church should go to the victims? So they should stop feeding the poor, housing the homeless, feeding the hungry? Money doesn't even the score.

The rate is no higher than other religions or other industries even. There are simply 1 Billion Catholics on the planet. Statistically speaking, this will unfortunately happen.

Now we know you are as bad as he is. I don't wish murder and sex abuse on anyone - even as revenge.

No it isn't. Sex crimes researchers R. Karl Hanson and Kelly E. Morton-Bourgon of Public Safety Canada conducted a large-scale meta-analysis (quantitative review) of recidivism rates among adult sex offenders. They found a rate of 14 percent over a period averaging five to six years. Recidivism rates increased over time, reaching 24 percent by 15 years. The figures are clearly out of alignment with the public’s more dire expectations. Knowledge is power!

There are more pedophiles who are married than priests.

I can't imagine how terrible every parent feels that forced their children to go to church etc now knowing this. And all the poor children who were too scared to tell...makes my stomach turn...breaks my heart.

Boys and girls, the number of teachers, coaches and staff members in public schools who get arrested (or should be arrested) for sexual contact with students is many, many times higher than the number of Catholic priests. Usually, the school district gets a complaint and quietly moves the offender to a different school, or quietly sends him down the road to a different school district. One teacher bounced around the Mississippi Valley between Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois like that for over 30 years before he was finally arrested, leaving a trail of hundreds of victims. The Catholic church gets a lot of fingers pointed at it -- but the public schools are much, much worse.

This video is appalling. The Roman Catholic church is an apostate Christianity with Pharisees (those who talk but don't act) and a false gospel. Scripture nowhere forbids those in the ministry from marriage. That is a false tradition without biblical basis. Friends, get out of the RC church!

Organized religion. What a farce. We need more faith, less ' religion. '

There is a school of thought which actually advocates rehabilitation for these people. Since rehab infers a return to a former state if being, this is impossible. The recidivist rate is 98% for pedophiles/sexual predators.

May he and all of the Catholic hierarchy who allowed this to happen for so many years burn in the hell they've scared us with all of these many years.

The reason they don't allow their priests and nuns to marry is so they won't have family to leave their estate to when they die.  It's well known that whatever money the priests and nuns make throughout their life goes right back to the Catholic Church when they die.  It's the most money hungry religious denomination in the world, and it's absolutely disgusting.

If the media did not make such a big show about it is not helping we all knew they were doing it for decades, the the churches were covering it up with lies.

What is it about Catholic Priests that causes the issue? Are they taught by their elders that this is acceptable or do they ENTER in as child molesters? Is this an issue among other religions or just Catholics? Is the vow of celibacy only a vow to withhold sex from adults...is there fine print in the bible that makes these F-ing men think that this is OK to do to children?! I wonder how many of them were molested as alter boys who then go on to repeat the abuse cycle that they were taught themselves. I'm now wondering if there is rape among the nuns who are never able to speak of it because of their "place". The whole system needs to come apart. This has and never will be an acceptable way of life it is disheartening and shameful. I agree with The earlier comment that maybe this is the result of the unnatural suppression of the human instinct to mate... These poor children who must not be seen as human in the eyes of the priests are used for horrific "sinful" crimes. Wow-guess I had a lot to say about the subject...

Very sad, a place of God that should be a loving safe-haven for everyone is a kiddy rape-fest. Maybe its time catholocism allowed priests and nuns to marry?

How long has this been going on and how long have the Catholics been covering this up. Years, decades, & centuries. Makes you wonder how the people involved can go on and follow the word of God. Really sick people &the money that this religious organizations bring in that money should go to the people who suffered and to the priests involved should be locked up for life.:-(

This is a valid point with school shootings but not in this case.  The more the media exposes the Catholic Church, the better. These priests don't want to get famous off these atrocious acts like those cowards shooting up schools. They want to remain completely anonymous so they can continue doing what they're doing.  Exposure will not only make them think twice about doing it, it will also make parents and social services more aware that this stuff does happen and that they should never leave kids alone with a priest.
