Comment of the Day: In defense of "flip-flopping"

John Kerry, the original "flip-flopper."
As the election cycle heats up, conservatives are trying to paint Gov. Mark Dayton as a flip-flopper.

He's waffled on medical marijuana, MNsure, and now, he's allegedly talking out both sides of his mouth when it comes to Minnesota's minimum wage. (Dayton's supporters say his views are nuanced, not contradictory.)

But as Angela Zaun Ollswang points out, changing one's positions on the issues isn't necessarily a bad thing:

She makes a good point -- at least so long as you aren't a server or bartender who stands to lose income if Minnesota creates a minimum wage exception for tipped employees.

Mark Dayton is a worthless corporate whore. Only serving people who advance his agenda. Jeff Johnson is no better. We are fucked

Why do people defend Dayton? He is the same "big business over small guy" politician that everyone hates.... or at least claims to hate.

Well, as in the case of John Kerry, flip-flopping rather IS a bad thing if it reflects a shift in your stance due to political expediency and/or public opinion polls instead of some evolution in your own outlook on the issue at hand.

I don't agree with Governor Dayton on everything, but the fact of the matter is, our state is in very good condition after the last for years of him in office. One of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, and a very solid economy. I'm happy with where we are, and will be voting for him again in November.

Because the state is doing far better under his leadership than under that asshat Pawlenty. He win reelection in a landslide! I don't agree with Dayton on everything but I rarely agree with a Republican on anything.

@mingtran @swmnguy You're really to stupid to comprehend this - just keep listening to Fux News and Rush - they'll tell you all you need to know.
