Michele Bachmann considering another presidential run [UPDATE]

Michele vs. Hillary, anyone?
-- Update at bottom --

It's the campaign nobody is asking for, but we might get it anyway.

Michele Bachmann was barely able to hold onto her solidly Republican exurban district last election cycle, and in May 2013 she announced she won't run for another term. Yet she still believes she'd be a viable presidential contender in 2016.

Bachmann was asked by the right-leaning RealClearPolitics whether she thinks any Republican women will make a push to be their party's presidential candidate, and in reply she threw her own name into the mix.

"The only thing that the media has speculated on is that it's going to be various men that are running," she said. "They haven't speculated, for instance, that I'm going to run. What if I decide to run? And there's a chance I could run."

There's also a chance I could run, but that'd require a Godly miracle like the one Michele thinks will ultimately force Presidential Obama to voluntarily repeal Obamacare. But we digress.

And even though her last presidential campaign was a scandal-plagued disaster, Bachmann told RealClearPolitics the experience would benefit her if she decides to make another go at it.

"Like with anything else, practice makes perfect," she said. "And I think if a person has gone through the process -- for instance, I had gone through 15 presidential debates -- it's easy to see a person's improvement going through that."

But Bachmann, who in the interview called herself "one of the top -- if not the top -- fundraisers in the history of the United States Congress," cautioned she hasn't made a final decision one way or the other, adding that she'll think more seriously about it after her last term in Congress wraps up.

Frankly, we hope she runs. After all, she has no chance of winning and thereby driving the country into a ditch anyway, but we salivate at the possibility of more stories like the one about how the Associated Press threw in the towel on fact-checking her during the 2012 Republican presidential debates because so much of what she said was pure baloney.

:::: UPDATE ::::

In a statement posted on her Facebook page this morning, Bachmann said the RealClearPolitics story has given people the wrong idea about her plans.

"My main point in the interview was that the media has failed to consider that there are a number of strong, accomplished, intelligent Republican women who could be in the mix for 2016," Bachmann writes. "At this time I have indicated no intention to once again run for the top spot in 2016. Right now my focus remains on serving out the remainder of my term representing Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District."

Here's the entirety of her statement:
Here's my response to yesterday's Real Clear Politics story:

The reporter's underlying premise was that no woman would run for President on the Republican ticket in 2016, and if that would hurt the Republican Party. I disagreed with that premise.

My main point in the interview was that the media has failed to consider that there are a number of strong, accomplished, intelligent Republican women who could be in the mix for 2016.

I said no candidate, woman or man, has announced they were running from either political party, so why does the media assume a woman would not run from the GOP?

After all, it was the Republicans who had a woman on the ticket in the Vice Presidential spot in 2008--Sarah Palin. She was nominated in Minnesota.

The Republicans were the only party to see a woman run for President in 2012--a woman from Minnesota, me.

I asked why the media assumes no Republican woman would run for President in 2016, including potentially someone like me? At this time I have indicated no intention to once again run for the top spot in 2016. Right now my focus remains on serving out the remainder of my term representing Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District.

All the media speculation surrounding presidential candidates for 2016 has the election results already predetermined, with Hillary Clinton, who has numerous fatal flaws, serving Barack Obama's 3rd and 4th terms as President. Before the game has even started the media has already declared the final score.

The media loves to paint the Republicans as against women, when in fact our Party has done more to promote women for the top job.

How refreshing it would be to see the media get a story right for a change.

As my Dear friend Samantha Mae Burgess told me today on an unrelated topic, yet applies to this scenario, I would rather shove a pineapple up my ass!

This is just one of the reasons I won't eat at this chicken joint. If Bachmann is comfortable there, it's gotta suck.

That's well and fine, people can have any opinion of her. But city pages really lowers itself when they resort to name calling versus journalism.

This means she will be prancing around the MN State fair grounds this August. This is great. Fair goers will yell at her telling her what a stupid idea it is...and she will just prance, prance, prance.

I've heard quite a few people's stories of coming across her in public. She goes back and forth from being a really sweet nice lady when doing day to day things, to a ranting lunatic whenever politics comes up.

It's because a large part of her district includes some fundamentalist "Christians" and the last remnants of the KKK. They eat up her crazy ranting!

She's too stupid to be president. Not only that Hillary would win hands down.
