Ace Young, who'd performed the retro standard "That's All" during Tuesday night's American Songbook-themed episode became the latest "Idol" wannabe to be ousted, sending oil prices soaring to a record $74 a barrel. "The market had been worried about Ace," Deborah White of SG SIB Commodities in Paris noted. "An underwhelming Kellie Pickler performance next week just might send it over $80."

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday called for Iran's compliance with current UN nuclear production treaties and brains with which to feast upon. As a follow-up, Rice demanded even more brains.

The House Homeland Security Committee will investigate Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hiring policies after Deputy Press Secretary Brian J. Doyle was arrested on charges that he used the Internet to seduce an undercover officer who he thought was a 14-year-old girl. Doyle, in speaking over the Internet with an undercover cop pretending to be a 14-year old Florida girl, revealed that he worked for the DHS, later disclosing numbers for his office phone and government-issued cell phone and using those lines, police said.
