Is Snooki the next Elizabeth Taylor?
Was being featured in a high-fashion spread for Harper's Bazaar the start of a lucrative career in fashion? Oddly, the answer may be yes.
Cathy Horyn of The New York Times recently drew interesting parallels between the Jersey Shore spitfire and the beautiful, tumultuous, and iconic Elizabeth Taylor:
However, Snooki is hardly a fashionista yet. For example, today's Women's Wear Daily's website features a story focused on Snooki. The brief WWD story suggests fashion fixes for the ridiculously-dressed reality star.
The reason she makes me think of Elizabeth Taylor -- quite apart from the unbridgeable divide of talent and beauty -- is that photographs of Ms. Taylor in the 1960s, many of which recently ran in Vanity Fair, confirm a short, busty woman with high hair, big jewelry, garish taste in clothes and a complete indifference to the cyclonic effect that all that produced.
What do you think about the fashion industry's fascination with the Jersey Shore star? Does she posess the qulaities of an icon or someone who will fade away after their 15 minutes of fame?
