Think of it as the World Cup of slam poetry. Each year, hundreds of performers from all over North America come together to compete for top honor. This year's final event will be held at St. Paul's Roy Wilkins Auditorium.

During the five-day competition spoken word artists representing 80 teams will perform at various locations throughout downtown St. Paul, including the Fitzgerald, Great Waters Brewery, Camp, and Wild Tymes. Local teams to root for will be Minneapolis's Slam MN, Punch Out Poetry, and 2009's champions, St. Paul's Soap Boxing team.

The top four teams will spar August 7. Leading up to the main event will be series of fun slam events, including an erotic poetry night, a nerd slam, and a Haiku-off. For more information, visit www.nps2010.com.
