| Kym, Polish Palace, Minneapolis, MN, 2000-2002 |
"From Here to There: Alec Soth's America" will feature over 100 photographs spanning 15 years. Images include early black-and-white pics from blue collar Minneapolis pubs, as well as selections from many of his acclaimed series, including "Sleeping by the Mississippi," "NIAGARA," "Fashion Magazine," and "The Last Days of W."
Also included in the exhibition will be Soth's latest effort, "Broken Manual," in which he snaps individuals who live "off the grid" outside of civilization, from shut-ins to homeless to runaways to monks to naturalists.
"From Here to There" opens at the Walker Art Center Sunday, September 12. Soth will be at the museum that day to give a talk at 2 p.m. The exhibition runs through January, 2, 2011.
