Dunny series 2010 release party this Thursday
Attention avid toy collectors and folks looking for some perky knickknacks for their desk: This Thursday, designer toy company Kidrobot is releasing its 2010 Dunny collection, otherwise known as the bunny-eared creatures in the Munny world. To celebrate, local toy shop ROBOTlove will be partying in their newish Northeast digs.
For those unfamiliar with the toys, think of them as slightly more expensive cross between Garbage Pail Kids cards and cute, collectible figurines. For around $8, buyers get a "blind" box with one three-inch figure and a trading card. Collectors don't know which Dunny they are purchasing until they open the package, which is part of the fun.
The look of each toy varies greatly per character. Included in this new set will be a sports fanatic, a condiment-themed design, a ninja, an infantile ice cream lover, and a few that can only be described as whimsically abstract. Each series includes designs created by a handful of artists. This round features Dunnys by Amanda Visell, Aya Kakeda, Damarak the Destroyer, Doktor A, Esther Kim,
One of the more unique Dunnys in the series
Frank Kozik, Huck Gee, Jesse Hernandez, Shelterbank, Sket One, Sneaky Raccoon, Travis Cain, Triclops Studio, an many others.
The (literal) opening party is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 19 at ROBOTlove (507 E. Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis; 612.871.9393). For a closer look at the newest release, click here.
