The end of summer is fast approaching [insert protests here] and it seems the festival, farmers' market, fair, and block party circuit is on turbo speed too. Yet again, this weekend is jammed with fun outdoor activities, like the Red Stag Block Party this Saturday in Northeast Minneapolis at the Red Stag Supperclub.
Now in its fourth season, the free, earth-friendly party boasts local organic fare, local music, and zero waste. And after all that festival litter you witnessed throughout the summer, bet it feels good to get your footprint back on a greener path with some good old recycling after a tasty brew or two.
The Red Stag Block Party will begin Saturday at 4 p.m., rain or shine, right in the middle of the road. Between the locally farmed and organic food and the entertaining sounds of local bands, the evening is sure to please. The stage lineup includes performances from Clementown, Cory Chisel & the Wandering Sons, Bight Club, Black Audience, Christian Fritz, and more.
Meanwhile, the street will be brimming with entertainment from the North Star Roller Girls, Familia Skate Shop, and a hula-hoop contest.
Even more impressive is the fact that the entire event will be zero waste. This means the evening's trash will be conserved and recovered, instead of destroyed. By planning ahead, vendors can make effective but simple choices in order to get their materials compost ready. Complete with recycling stations, the Red Stag Block Party will work towards getting revelers to think before they throw, something they've done since their debut block party.
So go on with your bad self. Eat that superb local cuisine while listening to impressive local music, and feel good about that can you just recycled. It'll be a great way to celebrate summer!
