Oktoberfest, Lyn-Lake Block Party: Freeloader Friday

As the seasons change, so do the types of events happening around town. This weekend we have two different Oktoberfest festivals, a block party (bring an umbrella), and free films.

Come celebrate beer with Black Forest. Friday night includes an opening ceremony/keg tap, an alphorn jam, burlesque from le Cirque Rouge, and more. Saturday features more burlesque, and the sounds of accordion and saw duo Dreamland Faces. Sunday diners will get free handmade chocolate with certain menu items. Check online for a complete schedule, most shenanigans start around 6:30 p.m.

This kid-friendly party features DJ music, dancing, food, and zombie filmmaking. 6-9 p.m.

This exhibit features six oil paintings merging nature with rock 'n' roll. Tiny white dots on black space recreate Rolling Stones photographs as well as nature scenes. The opening reception is from 6 to 9 p.m.

Big Outdoor Salsa Party

Can't afford the big performance by modern Mexican dance troupe Tania Pérez-Salas Compañia de Danza? Come dance to salsa tunes with Charanga Tropical instead. 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Raving Native Productions presents public readings from Mark Anthony Rolo's new anthology of plays. 7 p.m. Friday; noon Saturday.
