Found on lamp posts, nightclub walls, and in college dorm rooms, posters can be a surprisingly powerful form of art. They can disseminate information, share a social point of view, create an aesthetic, and work as a form of public protest. For the nonpartisan "Poster Offensive 5" artists from all over the country were invited to submit works speaking to the current political climate. Pieces range from earnest, to angry, to sarcastic, to hopeful. Tonight, you can check out results at the opening party starting at 7 p.m. at the Galley (1224 2nd St. NE, Minneapolis--the space formerly known as the Frank Stone Gallery).

This group show should be huge, with well over 50 artists exhibiting. You can check out some of the posters a little early with our image-heavy sneak peek after the jump.
